Default Body Punching 101 from Ricky Hatton

Found this on youtube watchin sparring videos. A young and in shape Ricky Hatton instructs a couple of soccer nitwits on how to properly land good body shots. Thought it was pretty interesting and insightful, hitting a guy as he's coming off the ropes taking in a deep breath.

"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

I loved a younger Hatton, growing up through my teens he was such a pleasure to watch. He was one of my favourites no doubt.

Great timing, great footwork, great angles, great technique all from a supposedly average mauler. Castillo finished by an average lucky dig? Class from a true great. Will we ever produce a more fan friendly, exciting, tenacious body puncher here in the UK?

Hatton was a very good fighter and likable as hell. But, that wasn't the real Jose Luis Castillo. He had lost his desire and was past it.

In their primes Hatton very well may have beat him though as well.

not to mention his punch resistance had gone to shit, but anyways back to some of the best modern body punchers, I'd have to say the top 3 are Barrera, Cotto, then Hatton

I imagine it would feel similar to being attacked by a pitbull.
