Thread: Froch vs. Taylor highlights

This includes Froch getting knocked down and hurt by Taylor in the 3rd round. This really was a better fight than I had remembered. Jemaine had a bad habit of fading late in fights, and/or getting KTFO.

I give Froch credit for hanging in there, keeping the pressure on, and finishing off his opponent, that shows the heart of a champion.

What impresses me about Froch his how much faster his hands seem these days. It's probably just because he's fighting in a much more controlled way and he's shortened his punches, but that's something that really stood out after watching that video.

Taylor had some power and/or pop in his punches, you might recall him coming close to stopping Pavlik early in their first fight. Jermain's stamina and chin were always his Achilles heel, even in the 2 Hopkins fights, which he narrowly won, you see him hurt and fading in the last few rounds.

Im not sure taylor did have a habit of getting koed late when this happened

Pavlik koed him in the 8th or something before that, he did fade a bit against hopkins late on

I never understood why Hopkins didn't pressure Jermain more, for whatever reason Hopkins fought cautious in both fights, go figure.

Man I forget how good Taylor used to be. Just no survival instincts. He could have survived that easily by holding and spoiling. Shame he would fade..landed some great counters on Froch. Ward should take this easy. He is more disciplined and doesnt fade like Taylor. Just doesnt have his pop

I agree, it's like he's sacrificed some of the 'thud' from his punches to throw with abit more snap if you get me... picking his time to put the power on his shots instead of going all out with every single one.

Taylor is a skillfull fighter and Froch isn't, taylor just didn't know how to survive and hold on. Froch will always struggle with fighters who move their heads and can box.

B-Hop is old and he had trouble making the weight (though Taylor did as well). The main thing is that Hopkins would take the first 4 rounds to feel an opponent out or allow them to drain their energy chasing him or wrestling with him and then start winning the later rounds. This worked very well when he was fighting smaller guys like Trinidad and Oscar, but a TRUE middleweight like Taylor had the size to handle himself with Hopkins and the technical ability to box with him...though if Taylor had ANY defense at all he may have even stopped Hopkins.

I agree with all the opinions of the last few posters about Taylor's lack of survival instincts, there was no shame in holding on but he didn't, he tried to fight back with this strong opponent. One thing he did give was a blueprint on how to take a decision from Carl and he was beaten by Ward. Don't get me wrong, I think that Froch is a good fighter but his chin and aggressive style is what kept him a champion and sometimes power and determination are not enough and not to beat a dead horse, this is the manly art of SELF DEFENSE> You are not require to take unecessary punches to prove you are tough and there is no crime in ducking as Taylor so aptly demonstrated.
