Boxing - Schaefer describes “worst home cooking I’ve ever seen”

Interesting but fair views from Schaefer IMO, its interesting what he says about the score cards. What do you think about this? I certainly think a rematch is fair with what happened, and I certainly believe it would be a good fight if they were to fight again. I think on netrueal ground Khan will do enough to beat Peterson on points. But Khan needs to just focus on what he needs to do, the showboating and excessivley getting hit with shots proved nothing IMO. Khan should be a lot more mature than that especially considering that a Mayweather fight wasnt too far away. He gave away too many rounds with trying to prove that he has a chin and I believe it cost him on the scorecards. No doubt without the points deductions I think he would have won, hopefully Peterson will keep his head up this time and Khan won't push as much. Peterson will have to put in a hell of a performance to defend his titles, but I think Khan should win if he isnt stupid!

First off, Tam, I agree with your thoughts on a rematch and on the fight going for Khan if not for the point deductions, which I though were unfair (though not quite to the level of mandating a reversal of the outcome).

On the article/Schaefer's comments though, this "scoring irregularity" thing is the biggest red herring/load of crap I've ever heard. There are like 6 paragraphs of talk about the judges' scoring and absolutely nothing of substance there other than an extremely speculative conclusion that "where there is smoke there is fire." If you credit the point deductions, as the judges were required to do, a Peterson win is not particularly controversial.

Complain about the reffing, sure, though it wasn't quite extreme enough to mandate a reversal. But the judges did their jobs just fine.

I do agree with what your saying, I do feel that no matter what Schaefer says it won't effect the outcome of the first fight. I think Khan and Goldenboy needs to just accept what has happened and move on from it. Amir Khan was on sports personality of the year and he doesnt seem too bothered by whats happened. However he does believe he was robbed, and I don't believe he was robbed I think he was unlucky in the points deductions. The fight was close and could have gone either way, but with the deductions no doubt Peterson won. As I was saying before he knows what he needs to do in the rematch and hopefully he can keep focused and beat Peterson in the rematch. I think he should leave all of the out of the ring messing around, and just focus on putting on a strong peformance against Peterson.

Point is though, Khan shouldn't be going life and death with Maidana and Peterson. So even if he did get the win on the cards, we still all saw the fight and we still saw that he had the same struggles as he had with Maidana. When you consider both Peterson and Maidana are good fighters, but a couple of rungs down from where Khan probably wants to be/thinks he is, it doesn't bode well, and it's not really worth it for Golden Boy and Khan's team to keep banging on about a robbery. We all saw the fight.

He needs to stop trying to prove he's got a chin and stay more disciplined because he looks hurt and it costs him rounds. He needs to stop thinking about a fight with Floyd and try not going to hell and back in fights with slower less skilled fighters. He also needs to learn how to fight on the inside. Basically he needs to improve everything if he's to even stand a chance agaunst Floyd.

Why do guys in such positions speak so much crap??. If thinks that this was the worst home cooking ever then he really hasnt watched boxing.

Ive always said that the worst decision i ever saw what the Whittaker vs Ramirez 1 fight in France. If Ramirez won 2 rounds then he was lucky.

Is Goldenboy connected to Paul Williams because he recieved a gift of a decision this year that was awful.

There have been worse decisions, Khan's people should just shut up and get on with the re-match.

Really sad the whining from these guys, peterson and camp thought they got ripped in the ortiz fight but you didn't see thier eyes watering up like schoolgirls weeks after. You replace half of those pushes with punches and khan wins. They should be in the gym working on flaws instead of crying about the guy that took advantage of them

This is sacrilege. How could you have misspelled this?

BTW, I thought this really is about the 'worst home cooking'. Wait 'til you taste my wife's mom's cooking. Now, I better hide this post from her.
