Default Vitali Klitschko v Dereck Chisora Chat Thread

Can crazy Del boy upset the applecart and pull off the most unlikely of victories? Or will King Kong swat him like an annoying bi-plane?

Can Chisora win? Certainly, that's why they fight the fights. WILL Chisora win? No...he doesn't have the speed or the power, and he's going to get hit early, often, and lose by KO.

It's been time for people to accept the dominance of the Klitschko brothers....they are always in peak physical condition, they have supurb boxing skills, they are more athletic, stronger, and bigger than anyone else in the division.....and they both fight smart. It is a large ask to even set foot in the ring with them...to beat them is an extremely difficult thing to do (as much as people would like to make fun of that those are the facts). Do you think many guys could wade through the shots Lennox Lewis, Corrie Sanders, Lamon Brewster, Chris Byrd, and Ross Purrity went through? There's a reason that out of the 104 total opponents the brothers have fought only 5 boxers have left the ring victorious against them....the brothers are GREAT boxers. This is their era, they are dominant, give some respect.

You must respect them and they are great boxers but you cant really warm to them because they arent very exicting.

Yes they do the job everytime, and yes they are dominating a weak heavyweight divison and have ducked an overweight out of prime janes toney for years but i wish there was just one person at the top of the tree! and seeing as though they will never fight each other it will be complete and total domination for another ten years!

If haye werent such a wuss there would still be some interest but i dont like the klits robotic style.

They both come across as nice guys but they just arent that interesting to watch. Imho

Lyle - I read a criticism of the Klitshcko's recently that I wanted to run by you. I read that one of their faults is that they move straight backward rather than moving back at an angle. The other criticism is that they can't fight inside. Of course, how often are they moved back and how often can come get inside to fight there? Are the criticisms valid?

For me it is not about disrespecting Vitali and more about not underestimating Chisora. The key will be work rate, Del boy himself realises he is not a banger and even if he were it will take an almighty punch to knock out Dr Ironfist. Vitali is not as fit or mobile as Wladimir and can be hit. If Dereck gets on his bike a bit early on, like Haye did all night, then he can frustrate Vitali. He then needs to up the pressure and workrate as the bigger and older man tires. He needs to score, even when avoiding Vitali's deadly jab early on and use plenty of volume up close. It's a massive ask and may be too much but Chisora is definitely a little crazy and can be unpredictable. Don't get me wrong Vitali will not be fazed until later rounds when he finds the younger man still there wailing on him and throwing punches in bunches. A points victory will need to be extra wide in Munich but I think it may just happen.

Good to see you have so much faith i hope he does well too but after his performance against fury i cant see that happening.

Lennox was the only threat to vitali..and that was ten years ago.
Vitali jab will break del boy into survival mode

Vitali moves straight back, but leans in a manner that he can pivot away from danger. He boxes that way because of his kickboxing background. He's 6'8 and when he leans back not many people can reach him so for a "regular boxer" moving straight back is a mistake, it has only hurt Vitali 1 time and that was the cut over the eye in the Lewis fight. When Vitali leaned back the punch grazed him instead of landing flush on the cheek or jaw (for better or worse).

Wladimir is very athletic and has begun to turn opponents the way Foreman turned Frazier in their first fight. I don't see Wlad moving straight back when he's in any danger...it may have been the case early in his career when he fought out of more of a crouch, but not now.

The inside fighting, I mean I wouldn't say they "can't" fight on the inside, its more like they choose not to. They are 6'8 & 6'7...what is the benefit of fighting on the inside when you have height and reach on your side? Every fight they have is like the Falkland Islands...the opponents are Argentina, they have a short reach, the brothers are England and stay back and use their reach from distance....its boxing at a simple yet at the same time done in a very impressive manner

They didn't duck Toney. Toney was just shit. Toney would have ended up in the hospital. Fuck, at this point, I could outpoint Toney.

For those who dont think Chisora can do it:

There has always been upsets. Think about it.

Nobody thought Schmeling would ever beat Louis.

Nobody ever thought Buster Douglas would beat Tyson.

Nobody is think that Chisora can beat Vitali.

Is it possible? Of course it is. Shit happens, and people don't like to imagine it.

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
