Perez vs. Katsidis WBA Battle in Play For U.S. Venue? - Boxing News

WBA interim-junior welterweight champion Johan Perez (15-0-1, 12KOs) has officially been approved for a visa to enter the United States. Plans are being discussed for Perez to make his American debut, and his handlers are considering veteran Michael Katsidis (28-6, 23KOs), who recently dropped an upset ten round majority decision to Albert Mensah. Perez is a tough contender, who holds recent victories over Kenny Galarza and Alberto Mosquera.

I guess in theory that's pretty hurting, but since it's a completely unknown import who has no business holding the strap anyways it's kind of moot imo. I didn't see Katsidis' last fight mind you, and haven't heard of the guy he lost to either. Is he (Katsidis) looking totally shot or is he still good TV?

Katsidis should take a couple of easy fights, but I could see him winning this

Have you actually seen this Perez guy fight Galaxy? I didn't recognize any name on his record, what's his deal? Katsidis is fun to watch usually but he's taken to much punishment in the last few years and should rest up.

I saw his last fight. He lost tThe opponent isn't a top guy at 140.

Katsidis keeps losing and the competition level keeps going down. He is just eating punches and doing damage to himself that is going to take years off of his life.

It is a joke that he has lost 4 out of 5 fights and he is going to be up for some sort of trinket fight. Gives one an idea of how ueless and corrupt the sanctioning bodies are.

Agree kat does not deserve this but from a promoters point of view he's exciting to watch and a ticket seller

I'm against any fighter getting a title shot after a loss, but whatever. I'll still watch it.

Hope Katasidis wins this fight and title. It is true he is no longer an elite fighter.

Both actually. Although I wouldn't say shot more like extremely shopworn

I really like him but I wanna flog his trainer for not teaching the man that taking in the punch flush in the face repeatedly doesn't score you points with the judges. For the love of god teach the man some defense.

The guy he last lost to was very solid. Wouldn't be surprised to see Katsidis still pull out a good fight against somebody else.

His trainer split up with him one or three fights ago after telling him he should retire and is now trying to make a go of it training and promoting shows in Tooawoomba or wherever it is they come from. Tells you all you need to know about what Katsidis has left.

Yes agreed he needs more head movement but he cannot change this late in his career. He is an entertaining fighter and deserves to win a title and make loads of money before he retires.

Katsidis is a joke, he will end up hurt.
Ive never forgiven him for shouting -

He then got his ass kicked , he is a fucking idiot. But people pay to watch a puncher who gets twatted each time he fights it would seem.
