Just wanted to add, not only should the 1st fight be declared a no-contest and the titles returned to Khan, but Peterson needs a good long suspension. This kind of shit hurts boxing, a message needs to be sent.

a failed drug test leading up to the rematch has nothing to do with the first fight, so I fail to see where the NO CONTEST makes sense, Khan has been bitching and moaning and has shown he can't take a loss, if it was for that Cotto would just have the 2 losses on his record rather to the L* against Tony

Peterson admitted using the same banned substance (synthetic testosterone) in November 2011, or a month before the 1st fight. I don't like Khan and think he's a twat, but what's fair is fair, Peterson cheated to win.

It strikes me that if Peterson passed whatever tests were in place for the first fight, there should be no grounds to reverse the decision. Isn't it also possible that if he were found to be deficient in testosterone, supplementing with it wouldn't have brought his levels above normal during early stages? If so there is a major gray area here imo, I feel if anything Peterson legitimately believed he would pass any tests that could be given and was a clean fighter. To make him suffer here isn't the right course of action at all imo, if anyone believes PED's aren't rampantly used in major sports they are very mistaken. The rarity here is that Peterson happened to be given a proper test after willingly submitting to it! Until there is some sort of conform in place from all of the major commissions it is absolutly backwards to put the onus on the fighters who happen to get caught imo.

it makes no sense to overturn the first fights decision.

he passed any tests leading up to and after that first fight and it would be stupid to penalize peterson for cheating on tests that he already passed. unless it can be determined that there were flaws in the previous tests and they could properly retest his old samples.

Well you do know the fight was canceled right? And you do know that Peterson allegedly admitted using a banned substance before the first fight, right? So where's the "major gray area"? Peterson cheated by using a banned PED, whether or not he thought he was "clean" or that they're rampantly used in major sports isn't relevant. Of course? I was talking about first fight, it's my opinion that if Peterson passed whatever tests were conducted at that time then it shouldn't be overturned on the grounds that he wasn't clean. It sets a really nasty precident, which is where the rampant use becomes completely relevant. The burden has to lie with the commissions to figure their shit out and get proper comprehensive testing done for all major fights. The gray area I was referring to was whether fighters should in theory be able to supplement with testosterone if they can prove to be deficient, but PEterson didn't go that route anyways so I agree he deserves a lot of blame here.

Peterson gets caught using illegal substances which he admits he used before the first Khan fight. His excuse is it's for some abnormal medical reason. Although it just so happens he failed to inform anyone of this until he got caught.

To a layman it sounds like he was blatantly cheating and because he passed the Washington test he thought he would pass the Nevada/VADA test.

I think Khan has every right to demand his belts back and also the loss should be taken off his record.

I love how the Pacquiao fans are all up in arms about Petersons PED use...Same guy who volunteered for stricter tests whilst Pac has never even taken a proper drugs test before and you all defended his decision. Double standard mofos..
