Default Should Mayweather Take A Tune Up Fight? And Who?

Althought Floyd wasn't locked up but for only 2 months, with his age, he still might have some rust. We all want to see him fight Pacman and/or Martinez, but IMO, should take a tune up first.

Should Floyd have a tune up fight? If so, who?
    My list of potential opponents
    Guerrero should he win
    Malignaggi should he win
    Winner of Alexander vs Bailey
Winner of Garcia vs morales 2
    Bradley
    Kirkland
    K9

A guy with his kind of talent does not need a tune up. Leonard came off 3 years and fought Hagler. I think people need to just take the possible Manny fight and flush it because its not going to happen.
I still think Chavez is going to bail on Martinez and Floyd/Martinez is what I'd like to see. Have to admit though that since the new same day weigh in is not actually a same day weigh in Chavez may actually go through with it. We could end up with Cotto/Floyd 2.

I still think Alvarez is the most likely opponent. It just won't be in November.

Maybe he will fight Bradley -- would be an easy night, almost a tune-up.

Of course, I'd rather see him fight Martinez than anything else; and a win over Chavez might raise Martinez's profile sufficiently for Floyd to make it happen (as perverse as that is).

I just don't know whether Oscar would even entertain that one. I'm hearing rumours that Floyd may also be severing his ties with Oscar and is going to align with 50's new promotional company.

Bradley would be ok I guess but he's an Arum fighter and Arum knows he'd be a heavy bag. Cotto could not even get Floyd until he left TR.

    1. I'm beting against Martinez. JccJr win by KO. So IMO, no Martinez fight.
    2. 50 new promo company is called TMT: The Money(Mayweather) Team, so yes he will be dropping DLH promotion. Just need to see if Floyd and 50 are willing to work with DLH.
    3. Is TR willing to work with TMT? Will Arum give up Bradley to Floyd and lose 100% profit by not having Pacman fight Bradley? Doubt it!!!
    4. Within the next 7 days, Pacman will have agreed to fight someone else. All in order to say they signed a fight before Floyd got out.
    5. I though Cotto wanted to move up to challenge for a middleweight title?

One thing to be sure of, it will be one of Pacquiaos previous opponents or one of his future opponents.

Why not dig up Joshua Clottey?

    Ricardo Mayorga

It sounds ridiculous but the names you mentioned no one gives two fucks about. I dont know why Don King hasnt tried harder to keep Mayorga active, even against bums and try and get him any kind of title because he isa pure selling machine and makes EVERYONE work. Hes pure entertainment and well worth the money.

Mayweather does not need a tuneup fight! He has been in and around boxing his entire life, he's as motivated as they come, you probably can't find another active fighter who knows more about training, he's a gym rat, he could give his uncle a vacation and still be as well prepared to fight as ever (not saying anything against his uncle, just speaking of Floyd's Pdedication to boxing, to his own legacy and his ability to motivate himself), he's fast and accurate and most important he always figures out a way to win. I still don't like the way he fights and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed seeing Mosley make his knees wobble for a few seconds. Whatever Floyd decides to do in boxing, it will be done well. I want to see Floyd fight Bradley. I think it would be interesting.

I'm behind, I thought Cotto rematch was a done deal? Either way why not. Nothing special just a stay at it and get his brand rebooted. For him it would be more of a infomercial. God forbid an elite fights more than once or twice a year and he's spent way too much time in the past watching from the sidelines.

    Hahaha. No shit.

I have a feeling it will be Cotto 2. I don't mind either.

Mayweather is always in good form. I'd be excited to see a Martinez vs Mayweather fight, because Martinez is a tricky fighter, may surprise Mayweather. Though it's equally as likely to be the other way around.

Everytime I think Floyd may be rusty, he comes back better than ever. Guys a machine.

I think he himself will be watching the Martinez fight like a hawk. I believe that's the fight he wants for the MW title because he's all about making history now. (and, as always, a shitload of bank)

I think he can get past Strum's jab and get him to fight in NY or NV.
Floyd's history is ending his career at 50-0. Passing Joe Cal at 43-0 and Rocky Marciano at 49-0

Floyd's entire career is made of tuneups .
