Emmanuel Steward is arguably the greatest boxing trainer of all time. He shaped talented but flawed boxers like Hearns, Lewis and Klitschko into great fighters.

I don't like his commentary lol..great trainer though
Steward is a great trainer, with the ability to spot, correct or exploit flaws in a fighters defense. Being trained by, and having someone like that in your corner borders on being unfair.
Respect to Steward... Really had the cream of the crop over there at Kronk.
If training with the best is what you wanted, that was the place to be.
However I have a couple of guys ahead of him such as Arcel, "Nacho" Beristain & "Pee Wee" Beale to name a few.
Manny has cancer according to this article
Lemieux est prêt pour un long combat - RDS.ca
Emmanuel Steward had his second surgery for colon cancer yesterday and he's in serious condition.
He needs our prayers right now.
Knew it was something like this, all the best to Steward.
I love listening to Emanuel Steward’s stories and opinions. I may not always agree with it but most of the time he is correct in his assessment. Always like the trainer, I have not heard him too much on commentary and he seems to be a consultant trainer now more that training fighters full time but still think he would do a good job for Amir Khan and rebuild him back up.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Manny is a great trainer he has been consistent in his successes with fighters. He does expect a lot from the guys he trains and sometimes fighters just want it easy once they get to the top and he splits with them because of that. I for one thought Jermain Taylor & Chad Dawson would benefit greatly from Manny's help, but those guys couldn't get it together and do what he asked of them.
Manny is a pro no doubt about it. He's up there with the likes of Ray Arcel, Eddie Futch, and Angie Dundee.
Sometime before the Martinez - Junior HBO PPV, Lampley mentioned that RJJ was filling in for Manny, who was away due to an illness. I don't always agree with him as an announcer, but I certainly respect him and his ability as a trainer. He also compiled a record of 94 wins and 3 losses as an amateur boxer, including winning the 1963 national Golden Gloves tournament in the bantamweight division. He's been great for boxing, I wish him a speedy recovery.
I don't like his commentary for the most part, but he has been a great trainer.
Felt for him when Andy Lee lost to Chavez Jr. as Steward wanted his fighter to prevail so badly and loves the kid.
Steward is still has a lot of years left in boxing, he should be part of HBO well into his 80's like Larry Merchant.Wish him the best with his surgery and fight against cancer.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
I just have a bad feeling and I hope its indigestion...I respect him as a solid profound and intelligent trainer who cares about his boxers. Hats off to him for all of his accomplishments.
To me the mark of a great trainer is bringing a fighter up from the amateurs and to a world title and Steward has done that. The Kronk Wizard is an all time great no matter what some people might think of him.
I would like to know why he split with gerald mcclellan..the real story
