Plumber says its old and we need a new one,Holy fuck when he told me how much i nearly fainted,
£1400 that includes labour he said no shit Sherlock.and this is no word of a lie,
10 min later the Missus calls me in a hysterical state,to tell me she has crashed the car..
she was fine ,but the car a right off.And Christmas round the corner im having serious

First things first, how old is your boiler, get a second opinion bud and remember you can get a new
car, remember you are all still in one piece very hard on the wallet.
Count to 3 bud, no time is a good time when things balls up, good luck I hope you get sorted.

How's car insurance work over there? The "open wallet surgery" should be covered by HHS right

If you have a very old boiler you can get good deals from gas companies. Get a combi boiler also you might as well put proper radiators with double the heat. Saves you money in the long run.

Insurance will pay for the new car you will need.

Cars are a pain, now your heating if you can get it repaired at a reasonable cost do it, remember there
is not a lot to a boiler, don't get ripped off don't let them fill you full of shit some out there will.!

That's really rough, I hope it all works out somehow.

What is it with boilers in the UK. It seems to be very common for boilers to break or else implode completely. It even happened to my Mum just a couple of years ago and so expensive.

Boliers are off half the year during the spring and summer and when you put them on to work they become knackered, the very time you need them the most.

We have heating. My friend knows a old boy who is a retired heating engineer,
such a lovely fella,he was working on the boiler for two hours and bingo heating on , and only
charged us £150 thats with a few parts, what a top top man,he does recommend a new boiler
but said it should last another year, so happy now.

Ive never tried but can you get them on ebay or at factory sales somewhere and store it until required?
They are the sort of thing that you have to buy and they know it so theres no discount if you are in the fix already. Just a thought, buy off season.
