Canelo vs trout.

Is canelo after legacy or money?

Do the right thing and fight trout.

Golden boy will steer canelo from trout and hype up a cotto fight.

Someone needs to stop all this pick and choosing from happening once and for all..

You are right Trout v Saul is a natural unification fight but I would not begrudge Cotto having the first shot at Alvarez. The fight with Trout will happen as Bob Arum is not in the way.

What you want, sometimes is not what we get,! I agree we should see champ v champ, but the
fighter's seem to be taking different routes, this is all to common today.!
There seem's to be shortage, of undisputed champions in the game to day.

This. For all that Cotto has given us if he wants the Alvarez payday I'd give it to him. Trout fight would probably happen after this as long as Alvarez takes Cotto out.

Legacy has for the most part in this era followed the path of the dodo bird. It is no longer a requirement to fight the best in order to make the claim that you are.


I'm not sure Cotto could be ready for May5th after that drubbing. If I were him I'd ride off into the sunset with my head held high but Cotto's pride may get in the way along with the multi million dollar pay day. I bet Oscar has already left some messages in one form or another.

Funny thing is, Alvarez's style is much more Cotto friendly.

Agreed, Cotto probably needs to take a gimme next though because one more defeat and he is shot!

If cotto beats canelo then i suppose that would make things more interesting but it sickens me that trout is left on the sidelines.

Alvarez is negotiating with Mayweather. Alvarez says he wants to fight in May (Cinco) but Mayweather apparently wants to fight in February then in September. Probably we get Mayweather Guerrero and Alvarez Cotto.

Everyone in the division wants to fight Canelo: Rosado, Lara, Vanes, Trout, Molina, Bundrage and some I can't recall. Everyone calls out Canelo. He's the cash cow of the division. Does Trout have a better claim than Molina? Molina arguably beat Lara (he did in my book) and Kirkland. Vanes and Lara fought to a draw, but the winner of the rematch, if there is one, should be in line for Canelo too. Lara was robbed against Pwill and drew with Molina. Trout has a good win against Cotto and beat Rigberto, but there are good arguments for all of them. One thing is for certain, they all have better wins than Canelo. Why don't we hear them call out eachother? If I were Trout, I would clean out the division, while waiting for the Canelo fight. He gains better experience than Canelo will get fighting junior welterweights and welterweights. He will be better prepared for his fight with Canelo.

Canelo needs to step up his competition, which is why I don't see a problem with fighting Cotto next. Cotto is indeed a step up in competition, and Canelo makes good money doing it, even if Canleo will be favored.

The fact that it's even CONSIDERED that Cotto would fight Canelo after two losses shows what's wrong with boxing.

It's not about the best fighting the best, or making fights that make sense. It's about hype and making fights that don't matter.

If boxing had any semblence of legitimacy, Canelo would be fighting Trout next.

Exactly. And that's not to say that Cotto doesn't deserve a fight with Canelo(who's never beaten anyone very good) or whatnot, it's just a really backwards fight to make. Canelo is the up and coming star, why on earth put him in with a guy on his way out who just got beaten up, and shaft a young champion who also stands to make a name for himself. It's a no win for everyone but the promoters and I really hope they don't push for it.

not a bad idea... looking at the ring rankings the only other guy in the top 10 with a belt is corenlius bundrage with the ibf :S... let canelo fight whoever floyd or cotto and Trout can have a mini unification with bundrage and that would make a fight between the champions of the division slightly more interesting
