Thread: Price looking for rematch.

Now I haven't been very active this week as I have been pretty gutted about the Price loss.

I take my boxing hugely serious and I have no problem admitting that I was proper devastated. I literally tightened up like I was going to cry. All my hopes of heavyweight boxing it he UK rest on him so it was a huge blow, the thought I may have to wait another 163572years for a decent heavyweight.

So this refreshes me.

Thompson knows he wants it.

Thats good news, hopefully it wont be to long before Thompson agrees to a rematch. I think it could be good, for the contest to take place on American Soil. With out going away and finding out. I'd imagine the American crowds are a lot bigger. And less conservative. Which will hopefully give Price even more inspiration.

With respect British boxing crowds are anything but conservative. While silly things like booing the opponents national anthem can end up shooting yourself in the foot by inspiring the opponent,(Thompson) they are indicative of an atmosphere where most of the crowd see themselves as going to war alongside the boxer and are therefore vociferous in their support.

A trip to the USA would be good for Price though in terms of exposure and learning to operate outside of his comfort zone.

how is that fight worthy of a rematch? A weird right hook knocked Price out of his kilter, rolling like a tortoise on the canvass, then curling up like a fetus.

If I were Thompson no way do I give a rematch. That was a sweet win for Thompason and he should ply his luck and move on to another fight, inching his way into things maybe at his age. That is too big a risk for thompason.

Yeah I agree, I wasn't saying the Bristish crowds are conservative. Merely that Americans tend to be more rip roaring. Having said that, off in a totally different tangent. If you go to a boxing, wrestling, or music concert down here. The crowds are pretty conservative. Goto London and they are the complete opposite. So comes down to region I think in the country aswell. I think the exposure would definatly be good for him, and the extra pressure as you say, taking him out of his comfort zone. The extra exposure will make him known better in the USA. Even if it divides opinion on him.

i think price will win the rematch, i think he got too big for his boots, thought as soon as he landed it would be over

you have to have respect for your opponents power and fight with a bit of fear especially at HW and he will definately do that next time

I don't see that the rematch is out of the question, I mean Price was doing much of the work before he got clipped with that shot. I think he just neglected his defence, and in a rematch would win by being more active and making sure he keeps his chin down and keeps a tight guard. I think Thompson may try for a bigger opponent rather than opting for the rematch though.

A rematch doesn't currently make sense.

There was no title on the line and Thompson would now demand much more money which means Price takes much less. It wont be easy to immediately re-sell and Thompson has zero following in America, he's an undercard fighter, the fight wasn't even shown on TV, so it defintely isn't going over there. And should Price lose again he's finished.

The only way they'll rematch is - Price wins a couple of comeback fights and Thompson beats Tyson Fury (a fight that does make sense). Then it will be much bigger than the first (which wasn't a big deal).

Price has made it almost impossible for Thompson to say no though mate.

He said in that interview, he'd fight in the USA, he'd give up a lot of purse money and Thompson just Ko'd him side 2.

Thompson might make price retire when he bites his hand off for this deal.

He needs more seasoning. The man is being rushed to quickly and it showed against the out of shape veteran. He should fight at least once or twice a month until next year before stepping up again.

Are we all missing the fact that Thompson said he does not want a re-match.
Be a step down in his ambitions for a title.
Would only consider a re-match for big money stateside.
How much money is big money.
If he gets better offers with more established fighters will he even consider a re-match even for big money.

Mistake to throw Price in a re-match after his first professional loss, needs one or two matches before he should even consider it.

Thompson is older and will probably fancy a shot at Vitali or something (since Wlad dispatched him TWICE)...I think his best bet would be to fight Fury. That would get him big money and give him another chance to upset the apple cart.

Price got KO'd with 1 punch....that's rough man. He'll not do his career well to rush back into the ring vs the same man that stopped him last time...take a few fights to fix your problems David, you've got time. It shows guts to want the immediate rematch, but a lack of brains

Price should carry on learning and not bend over just to fight Thompson. Price still has a lot to learn.

I don't even consider him alive, let alone a boxer.
