If Mayorga was to take this as a new career path then he could be brought along slowly as fighters with no amateur back ground are in Boxing, like Chavez JR.
Hes already proved that its not going to be easy to make him submit and I think some "MMA fans" resent that.
You mean how James Toney got spank in 1 round by 40 year old former champ Randy Couture? Mayorga is not comparable to James Toney, nor is the bum he fought comparable to Randy Couture. BTW Mayorga was losing and got dq'ed.

In fairness to James Toney, at that weight he was probably unable to see his lower extremities, much less move them to avoid being taken down, and, once down, he was like a turtle on it's back.

Exactly, compared to the shape Toney was in, Mayorga was a greek god!

Id also bet that Mayorga has far better natural grappling ability than Toney. He used to be a gang leader and has machete scars on him. He fought proper in the street and it has toughened him right up. Toney came from a good neighbourhood with a good upbringing. Mayorga was in the dirty back streets of a third world country. Toneys toughness and persona is an act he puts on, whereas Mayorga had his attitude carved into him with machetes.

Also, Toney was thrown in against one of their top fighters, whereas Mayorga fought someone who only had a handfull of fights but was still vastly more experienced than Ricardo. He has showed promise. Regardless of whether a knee to the back of the ribs is illegal (iv seen elbows thrown to the same area) Mayorga still got out of a choke hold to do it.

Can't bame a man for trying to mae a living off what he has always done but at the same time, can't blame me for realizing that he's nowhere close to relevance in anything anymore and to not be interested one second in what he might be doing.

Always been a huge Mayorga fan and I wish he'd just stop while he's ahead with a dodgy 1-0 mma record.

This "level" I've seen fight before on youtube and he likes to bang, but he's far from a former World Champion boxer.

    ok ok ok.

Mayorga, for a first fight was doing ok. He has been taught the basics and was able to execute them without panicing. He was holding the guys body and wrists close hampering his ability to work, along with a nice left hand he threw from his back that seemed to hurt the kid and he toughed it out.

    Found this interesting.

Iv always assumed the twitter account was fake but still enjoyed it none the less because who ever it was, was "tweeting" real fighters and promoters and giving them shit

    https://mobile.twitter.com/THEREALMAYORGA

I had a look a couple of days ago and he said to this Rene "level" Martinez to remember everything he says in the press today as he will make it come true. Then this Mayorga Explodes at MMA Presser For Martinez Fight - Boxing News

I hadnt read about a press conference and being a Mayorga fan nigh on every day I search for news, so who knows? Maybe its some uber fan that knew the conference was coming up somehow

It's good that Mayorga is being matched up properly against strikers cuz that's exactly what boxers need when stepping inside the gaytagon.

He may not be much of a boxer inside the ring but he's still an ex champion with his fists and nobody in the MMA can bang with him.

I dont know who his opponent is but if he's really the Kimbo type, Mayorga is going to eat him alive.

Im still wondering why him and Dean Thomas isn't get rescheduled. I still wanna see what Thomas can do after getting bitch slapped like a hoe. I mean shit, if I was him, Id do everything i can to secure a fight with a man who bitch slapped me.

    Dean Thomas is a bitch.

Dean Thomas is a former UFC fighter and much, much more skilled than Mayorga's first or upcoming opponent.

He would most likely submit Mayorga in the first round unless Ricardo landed a hail mary punch on him before he was taken down.

Mayorga in mma will not end well, but he's got balls and he seems intent on doing it so I'll be watching and rooting for him.

Yeah, that was Din Thomas. Mayorga is a clown and gets right u der peoples skin but it creates an event people want to watch.

Iv found some sort of record on his intedned opponent. I seen a 5 wins and one loss all in Brazil. How accurate that is I have no idea but even if he has no fights, the guys gonna know stuff that Mayorga is yet to learn. Myorga has more chance in this field than Toney who is a counter puncher. Mayorga will put the fear of god in to this bloke when the bell goes. Hopefully he trains

*A clown? he's a clown that'll knock the shit out u... that's for sure. Mayo might talk smack..but the man can fight... sure, we know what's gunna happen..they take him down, and pound him out..but I guarantee there's no MMA guy that'll stand toe to toe with him and win

*I wouldn't say thtat..but Mayo's prob was he didn't like to train... but if Mayo came in at 145, in shape without having to drain himself... he'd ko Mallinaghi... i'd love to see him in with Bronner...

Mayo was in with guys much bigger than himself most of the time... to me, he was 140 pound killer that fought at 150 pounds and got killed.

The good thing for Ricardo is he now has had a real taster of MMA and the difficulty a boxer faces when on his back.

Tiffer was a smaller man though whereas Martinez is naturally bigger and maybe stronger.

At least the fights are fairly close to each other so there is a little bit of momentum. Even though Martinez is bigger I dont think he will be stupid enough to punch with Mayorga.

The bout is in Nicaragua and apparantly Mayorga is very popular in his home country, he is also very pally with the promoter and now they know he cant be banned from MMA there because of the freedom to work law, he always has the option to do some move that will make MMA fans cry and get the win, or at least leave another fighter on his back screaming

I hope he doesn't have to resort to disgraceful unsportsmanlike tactics again.

Thumbing a guy in the eye is one thing (the Michael Walker fight), but kneeing him in the spine is uncalled for and dangerous.

I really hope Mayorga beats this Cuban streetfighter, but the guy is A LOT bigger than Mayorga and 4-0-1 in MMA, although I checked his opponent list and they all had losing records, some terrible records.
