Another aspect to consider is the number of games: In Hockey, Basketball or Baseball, how many games are played per year? A lot more than soccer, so more games means more money for T.V copyrights and it means more money at the gate, too, if you have 3 games per week versus one, it makes the hell of a difference at the end of the year. This doesn't apply to football but again, footballers are not paid as much as baseball or basketball on a general scale (we,re not talking the players of exception here and even there, the 15 millions contract per year of Manning, the highest in the game, is kinda low if you compare to the 23 millions a year of Manny Ramirez, 20+ for Lebron James etc)
