Default Will matchroom always be the only promoter on sky sports?

With matchroom signing a 2 year deal with sky sports what will happen after that? Will they carry on only showing matchroom fights or will they let other promoters get back on board? I have enjoyed matchroom being on skysports and they are giving us good fights. What do you think about them being the main promoter on sky sports??

They won't be. I think Sky are trying to do a US type thing like Showtime & HBO have some exclusive deals they've decided to go down that route. It won't last forever as other quality fighters will sign with other promoters and Sky will welcome them with open arms. I think Sky are already kicking themselves they signed an exclusive deal with Matchroom and didn't get into bed with Golden Boy's UK market start up.

Matchroom own darts. Apart from football darts is by far the biggest draw for subscribers on Sky Sports. This gives Matchroon tons of leverage in contract negotiations and is the reason they now have an exclusive boxing contract with Sky. Since it happened almost all top British boxers have moved to Matchroom so it's working out nicely for both of them. As long as Sky are desperate for the darts and as long as Matchroom are involved with boxing then you can reasonably expect the current situation to continue.

Maybe they'd show Haye again but I can't see him getting a PPV and his last performance on Sky wasn't exactly great TV.

I think that right now they'll be happy with the match room deal due to the level of fighters that have just joined match room.

    But things will change.

No reason that says sky needs to have just one company on board.

They could have warren, hearns, GB and the rest and just make sure the big fights are scheduled around each other.

Do not know why the companies tie themselves to exclusive deals when they do not have to. Sky is a pimp and will move on to the next best promotion deal, it has no loyalty and will screw anyone.

I know matchroom sports has a 5 year deal with sky sports , so I think matchroom boxing will be about for a while.

This seems wrong. Noone will pay what sky pay for darts. I doubt matchroom are in any position to make threats

It's not a threat, it's just leverage. When Al Haymon started managing fighters he was immediately able to get his fighters book ed on HBO at the expense of people HBO had dealt with for years and it was because Haymon also promoted big music acts that HBO wanted for special events. Darts along with all the other sports Matchroon bring to Sky allow them tons of leverage as Hearn Junior decides to re-enter the boxing market. Sky sign an exclusive deal with Matchroom and almost all the top boxers gravitate to Matchroom/Sky. It's a win win for both of them.
