Thread: Great Fighters.!

When I look back at the 80's, that was a hay day of boxing.
Hagler
Hearns
Duran
SRL
And many more hell great fighters, great match ups still 15 rounds wonderful stuff, do I miss
them days, am I impressed by today's fighters some yes others NO.
As Cher, would say IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME, if I only could.!

They were all on free TV over here including Tyson fights which made me a huge fan.

Yes ITV showed Duran , Hagler ,etc all free and my favorite commentator old Reg Gutteridge, if
you wanted to hear great boxing knowledge, and most of all common sense Reg was your man.!

One problem was we never got to see Bruno v Witherspoon, they showed interviews before the fight but the actual fight was never shown live. That would never happen today.

Remember Sibson v Hagler , the only time I seen Hagler shake anyone's hand before a fight,
very UN Hagler like. Duran v Palomino hell of a fight, Roberto dropping Carlos.

Nigel Benn, Eubanks and Watson on ITV were memorable too.

I feel you, Rich.. I wasn't around during the 15 rd era but I look at the fights back then and read the old papers, it was a boxing fans dream in the 80s with all those great fighters and matchups..

Today, we have to settle for guys like Sergio Martinez and ORtiz..
