Default Jhonny Gonzalez wants Abner Mares in a Mexican war

He was hoping to land a rematch with deleon but with belt now in abners position, gonzalez wants to face him..

Its a good matchup imo stylistically and an easy fight to make.

    Who wins?

Gonzalez was losing to Ponce, did lose to Ponce far as I'm concerned. Always been a quality consistent fighter, but he can't beat Mares.

I say do it. Gonzalez has the power to stop Mares. And he has the chin to go out in 1

Cant see Gonzalez winning this. Only chance is a highlight reel KO but is very unlikely for me. Mares stops him by the 7th

Mares has an optional so this could happen and he really wants to fight in Mexico preferably in Guadalajara but after that he has to fight the modern day Cinderella man Robinson Castellano.

Exactly this. Gonzalez is also exciting to watch because you never know what is going to happen. He reminds me of Khan in that way - no chin, but a ton of skill and power.

I just don't see Gonzalez beating Mares. Slim to 0% chance. I would pay 50-60$ to see Chris John come to the US - where he doesn't have any advantages, and get his ass whipped by Mares.
Chris John= most protected champion in boxing today

Gonzalez could always punch and he proved he still can,! Mares will go back to the drawing board
but he will come back, as for Gonzalez never say never, well done.

Mares reminds me of khan too. Overhyped with no chin

It's not the fact that Gonzalez dropped him, the problem is when he got up he tried trading instead of holding- another khan trait.
Oscar was saying this guy was going to be p4p king which looks abit daft now. He can comeback but needs to make afew adjustments.
Lucky he didnt get the fight with Mikey Garcia but then again it could have gone any worse anyway

That hook was perfection. For three quarters of it's journey it looked like it was going to the body. Morale s had shots like that but never that stunning. Can I confess that I've never seen a Jhonny Gonzales fight!!
