Thread: 1995 to 2005- Light to Super Welterweight: Who's the best?

Who would you consider the best pfp of that era:

During that era we had, and in no particular order:
1.Oscar De La Hoya
2. Felix Trinidad
3. Shane Mosley
4. Fernando Vargas
5. Vernon Forrest
6. Kostya Tsyzu
7. Ricardo Mayorga
8. Pernell Whitaker
9. Julio Cesar Chavez

How would you rank them, during that era? Bearing in mind at that time JCC was on the downside of his career, as well as Whitaker- even though they all had belts up to 96/97.

I give, surprisingly, Ricardo Mayorga the most props for fighting every prime contender on this list. He lost to Mosley twice and lost to De La Hoya and Trinidad once (both in the later part after the time frame), but beat Forrest and Vargas easily at their peak too.

It's really hard to rate them... seriously.

Mayorga never beat Vargas in his prime. Neither did he fight prime ODH and Tito.

During that time frame, I think Trinidad would beat most guys on that list more times than not if he had the chance.

Although I personally think JCC, PW and Mayweather (not on the list) are by far more talented.

We had a poor mans Hagler/Leonard/Duran/yearns in ODH/Tito/Shane and Vargas

De La Hoya beat Vargas, Trinidad, Mosley, Whitaker, Mayorga, Quartey and Chavez. His only legit was to Mosley in there first fight. So it's clearly Oscar De La Hoya

Mayorga faced 5 of them. 6 if you count his two fights with Forrest. De La Hoya faced 6 of them. 8 if you count his two with Chavez and Mosley

He also fought Mosley just once. Mosley was a fucking dirty drug cheat, if he wasn't, Mayorga would have beaten him in their fight.

If they'd fought just after Mayorga beat Forrest, Mosely would have been stopped by trying to fight with Mayorga, just like Forrest was in the first fight.

Forrest beat Mosley twice and came the closest out of anyone to stopping him and mosley was an admitted drug cheat. Put Forrest higher and get Mosley off your lists and stop giving him credit he doesn't deserve!
