If you saw the Mosley-Cano fight last night you witnessed a person who actually turned back the clock like Marty McFly. Shane Mosley is an all out heart warrior. Boxing should take care of him for his efforts. I hope he never has to fight past 2013 though. For his own good. Hats of to an all time great. He fought his heart out.

Nah, hope he is happy with what hes doing but i dont really like seeing that style of fighting. He should retire, but then again so should roy and evander. Same old story.

When I was young and trying to learn to box, Shane Mosley was a kid standing in the corner watch, a real little kid. A friend that was still going to that gym told me that Shane was the best fighter in the gym...at age 9. But his dad used to bring him in a baby basket, while he would train fighters.
I saw him fight at The Forum one night, and I was sitting in the 2nd or 3rd row. It was early in Shane's career, maybe his 15th or 16th fight, and he'd had a long layoff. In the first round he didn't look good, real rusty, and I was disappointed. But then he started getting the jab working- either late 1st round or early second (it was many years and many more beers ago)- and then he got sharp and stopped the guy.
In 2001 or 2002 I was living up here in Montana but went back to California; my friend and I drove up to Big Bear to watch Mosley train. Again, memory fails as to who he was preparing to fight, but it was shortly before the Botha/Lewis fight because Botha was up there too. Shane's dad was still training him, but john david Jackson was real involved as well. Shane finished up and Jackson got in the ring- he was thinking comeback at the time- to spar with a guy he was also training. I was standing right at the edge of he ring watching them spar when Shane came out. He watched the sparring- Jackson laying on the ropes (legs gone) slipping and avoiding punches, landed one wicked left hand- very intent. Between rounds we would talk about what was going on in the ring, and he was very animated about it.
He lived, maybe still does, in the Ganesha Hills region of Pomona, overlooking Ganesha Park and the LA County fairgrounds. The 7-11 down on Ganesha Blvd- 'the' 'hood- used to have a bunch of autographed pictures of him. I hope he gets out of all this- boxing- with his dignity, and enough money and senses to live out his life with pride.

What fucking pride does a filthy admitted drug cheat have?

Anyone who gives Mosley an ounce of credit can never have any say on ridding boxing of steroids. You all get excited about a cheater. Putting his oppomemts lives at risk by going in with an unfair advantage. Mosley is a cheating little cnt and im sick of seeing all the sicophants licking his ass hole in here.

Mayorga said that Shane's ex-wife said...we're on to, what, third level hearsay evidence? Shane started boxing about 5 minutes after he could stand upright and he was a top level, very accomplished amateur. He is also a pretty decent guy.
I don't think that he was the only steroid user, and from the inception of sport (especially boxing) as soon as one guy found an edge, everybody followed. I do know that Shane Mosley started learning to fight at about age 3, persevered with it, put the work into it, and got real good at it. Without that work and that effort, you could take every steroid ever created, and all of them, and not succeed at boxing.

Ross, you are making a villain and jerk out of yourself with shit like this buddy.

Mayorga, my favorite fighter and one of yours is a cheat too. He was tested positive for dieuretics when he weighed 170 against Oscar and still got humiliated aside from one good uppercut.

He's also pretty much a confirmed rapist. That's why he had to make a deal with the devil with that fuckin Ortega dictator of Nicaragua and give him chunks of his purses. Had to buy his freedom from rape charges.

And yes Mayorga in 2002 was a beast, but Mosley was a lot better back then too. Not to mention Cotto KO'd Mayorga in the 12th (which was a heartbreaker for me) and he was def NOT on steroids.

Or maybe he was. 50% of the top boxers out there are on some PED's they just don't all get caught. Same with mma.

Im a villain now because I'm fed up with people giving props to someone who has admitted to taking a substance that allows them to fight the same in the later rounds as they were at the beginning of a fight, against a tiring honest opponent. The biggest win in his career he was cheating.

Mayorga took something to lose weight. It is possible it was to mask something else but he's never failed any tests or been under suspicion, or been associated with any pharmacists and most importantly of all, he's never been taken to court and made to admit that he willingly made himself a weapon.

Fuck Shane Mosley, he's a joke. He may well have worked hard but obviously he felt he wasn't good enough without the drugs, so by taking them he's admitting to himself he needs them.

In 2002 Forrest hit Mayorga clean with everything. It was Mosley he had wobbling everywhere and holding for dear life. He wouldn't have heard the final bell with that Mayorga.

Shane is tuff, no doubt. Durable. But the only way hes turning back any clock is once a year, just like the rest of us. The problem isn't him struggling with a Cano down in Mexico on basic cable..its when he again looks like a champion turned journeyman padding some big stars name. He needs to retire and leave with some dignity. Hes starting to collect punches like an old used time clock.

Interesting. You know I agree, if you have been caught cheating then your entire career is tainted. Roy Jones, Holyfield, Mosley, Toney, Morales and Tarver have all been busted and should have their Hall of Fame passes revoked.

To some yes. But to the majority of fans a guy is judged and remembered mainly on his quality of work, rightly or wrongly as some may see it. We all know and have our own beefs, indescretions with certain fighters but I watch the fights, not court cases. The sport is filled with ex cons, con men, and superstars and journeymen doing jail time.
