    Default The WBC strikes again.

Such a class organization. How they are legally able to operate is puzzling to say the least. Even more puzzling is why boxers covet the thing.

Andre Ward Relinquishes The WBC Emeritus Title

    By Andre Ward

After careful thought and consideration with my family and team, I have decided to relinquish my WBC Super Middleweight World Champion Emeritus Title. As has been recently reported, the WBC elected to strip me of my world title belt, making the upcoming bout between Sakio Bika and Marco Antonio Periban for the vacant Super Middleweight Title. After consultation with my manager James Prince and attorney Josh Dubin, it is my belief that the WBC did not have the right to strip me of my World Title and name me Champion Emeritus. We voiced our position to the WBC, and after several discussions, have agreed to disagree with their interpretation of the facts and rules. In our opinion, we feel strongly that I did not violate the rules in any manner whatsoever.

When I fought Chad Dawson, there was no mandatory contender. Subsequent to my victory, I injured my shoulder but have remained ready, willing and able todefend my title within the period specified by the WBC’s rules. Nonetheless, without what we feel was appropriate due process, the WBC elected to strip me of my World Title. I think my track record in fighting the best opponents available speaks for itself. I worked extremely hard and dedicated my entire career to win and defend my WBC belt. As a matter of principle, I have chosen to stand up for what I believe is right. I think the fans know and appreciate that I am the Super Middleweight Champion of the World, and I trust that I will continue to be recognized assuch. I am back in training again, feeling great, and excited about my return to the ring[/QUOTE]

Couldn't happen to a more deserving prick.

Good choice, I applaud the WBC in their decision.

I would rather see Sakio Bika as champion, at least his fights are always good to watch.

I'm happy, the ethics don't seem to bother me as it is happening to Ward, I imagine it would annoy me if it was a decent exciting fighter I like, but right now I'm just happy.

    Hmm.... let's see....

Marco Antonio Periban is Mexican, right?

Anyway, it's common knowledge by now. The WBC is Jose Sulaiman's personal playpen.... and he does with the belts what he sees fit. It's Sulaiman's way, or the highway. There's plenty of legitimate Mexican champions. But there's also a number of "manufactured" ones as well.

How does one go about buying a boxing commission?

doesn't matter if you find the man boring, he consistently takes on the best fighters available, you don't get clear wins over Bika, Dawson, Froch, Abraham, Kessler, Green, and Miranda by being a bum, regardless if he has the little green strap or not he'll be recognized as the LINEAL AND LEGITIMATE SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION

Thats subjective. I won't recognize him as that

It's not that I think he's bad, he's a spoiler, shit to watch?

It's not a matter of opinion it's a fact, you don't lose your title of being the best fighter in the weight class without a loss, and he's already healed up so you'll see him sooner than later

No it is opinion. More importantly than that, it's YOUR own opinion.

Again it's subjective down to the last sinew of each personality.

I don't care if he has won every fight, I consider the manner of which he fights to be horrible.

It's the equivalent of watching a footballing side play 6 at the back, it may get the result but it is terrible to watch.

The ^best^ (notice the sarcastrophies) or not, I'm happy he isn't champion, as an individual (we spoke about this already) I believe that the champion should be someone that people like to watch and who puts on a show and wins impressively, but then again that's just MY opinion

Just that soggy filled pamper keeping the belt safe and sound for Not my father Chavez jr. That's allllllll it is. Funny thing is I'm not convinced at all he beats Bika. Good on Ward for telling him to stick it where the sun don't shine.

So Willie Pep and Pernell Whitaker in this era would also be denied their belt because they're not exciting boxers to watch? So Rios deserved his gift decision over Abril? So Floyd Patterson should have kept his belt after all Mohammad Ali did was jab him round after round after round because Ali's boring?

It's one thing not to enjoy a boxers style, that's fine but to support a horrible decision like this is something else entirely.

couldn't agree more, as far for this most entertaining fighter being champion, then I don't know why Gatti never was undisputed champ in every division he fought in

Seriously. How does one go about buying his own boxing commission? Must be nice to own one of those. You can make up your own rules as you go along. You can also reward your cronies, family members, and countrymen without fear of getting rebuked because, after all..... hell, you own the damn thing.

Yup. I got 50 bucks that says in the coming weeks the Jr going to 168 ramblings will start and then by the fall Jr will get the winner of Bika/Periban.

Strange opinion there Vendettos. Maybe you shouldn't be watching pro boxing. The world champion should be the best in the world. Ward has beaten everyone in his division, he is the best in the division, he should be world champion.

Maybe watch some white collar boxing, their fights are usually exciting but they couldn't beat anyone with an ounce of boxing skills

Haha I read a few days that Ward might fight Chavez at 168. Now I guess he is going to 168 but ain't gonna be fighting Ward. Absolutely disgusting from WBC. Fans and boxers should boycott them. Be rid of them

Like him or hate him (vendetto clearly hates him) ward is the best at the weight and Froch and Kessler are fighting for 2nd spot.
