Canelo Alvarez. Since he's going into a fight that could be the highest grossing PPV ever, I think that makes it pretty obvious he's the star.

It always cracks me up that Alvarez is even Mexican, he's a ginger for crying out loud. I guess somehow it is him though, Marquez probably isn't even second in terms of popularity and he's been such a great face of Mexican boxing.

Is there really any chance that Sauls fight with Floyd will be the highest grossing PPV ever I can't understand how thats possible. He must be a hell of a lot more popular than I realized if so.

Canelo may Mexico's biggest star ( I dont get why ) but Marquez is the best fighter..

And Schafer keep calling Canelo the Mexican James Dean is cringe worthy. He dont have that kinda charisma. He's just the ginger boy with low stamina.

It's really puzzling that presently most Mexican fans support Alvarez compared to Juan Manuel Marquez. JMM has a great resume and Alvarez' resume pales in comparison at the moment.

    Is Erik Morales still active?

They say that stars are made and not born and Canelo is a clear example. With a shortage of great Mexican fighters at the moment, they had to create a star and Canelo struck gold.

HE's not particularly a great fighter and I may not speak spanish but he doesn't strike me as a charismatic type so why is he favored over Marquez?

    Marquez should be the guy..

Marquez is the best boxer but Canelo is the most popular by far I would say.

Doesn't matter who's most popular. Marquez the most respected. And it's not debatable.

JMM is a proven commodity and he's still out there putting the finishing touches on his resume. He only fights the best win lose or draw he never stops doing what all fighters should be doing, forging ahead. He is respected and he has earned it the hard way.
