I liked 5treet Kings. The scene that really caught my attention was when reeves got jumped by the korean gangsters. Plus the fact that the setting was in los angeles just got me to relate more to the story.
I think this was the first movie where I thought keanu reeves actually did a good acting job.
I was mainly drawn to the movie because of the korean Gs.
One thing that irritated me though was the way they portrayed korean gangsters as child kidnappers and rapist. I'm affiliated with many of these sets in Ktown and I can tell you firsthand that korean gangsters are not involved in dirty crimes like that.
Fuck that script writer for not getting his sources right
That's more the new generation of kids who speak that way and a lot of that comes from the music they listen to and the bullshit they see on tv.
The way they speak also has to do with the hood they grew up in. Some talk more like cholos , some talk black, but the old schools like myself speak proper english like businessman.
But u can also say that its the way LA gangsters talk in general.
I have met LA gangsters of all kinds, the Mexicans don't talk black at all, they actually despise black slang/people and won't even address them unless they are in a conflict, the white Nazi movement does not or the biker gangs, but it seems that the Asian gangs of all kinds KG/chinese/Japanese/Vietnamese/ etc all take a liking to the black culture.
I was speaking more in terms of asian LA gangsters. Depending on the area they grew up in , they'll either take from the black or mexican gang culture.
Of course a cholo isn't gonna talk black vice versa.
The gang culture in LA are dominated by Mexicans and blacks so the few asian kids who wants to bang are going to take after the mexicans and blacks, naturally.
But like I said, it's the younger generation who are posers anyways and gangbangin isn't what it used to be.
Whats Cholo?
Doesnt matter I looked it up, interesting.
Cholo (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈtʃolo]) is an ethnic slur created by Hispanic criollos in the 16th century. In sociological literature, it is one of castas,[1] and refers to individuals of mixed or pure American Indian ancestry, or other racially mixed origin. The precise usage of "cholo" has varied widely in different times and places. In modern American usage, it most often applies to a low-income Mexican-American sub-culture and manner of dress.

Training Day was a bit unrealistic, this all happened in one day? The white dude beat Denzil in a street fight? Load of bollocks.
I liked Internal Affairs, Richard Gere plays a complete cunt.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Why is it bollocks he duffed up Denzil? It was a simple case of a man being pushed too far.
The white dude spent all day being played like a complete cunt, and by time he survived the Mexican gang execution, he was so fucking pissed off with Denzil that he marched into his compound taking the chance that the residents wouldn't kill him. They all hated the dirty bastard hence they backed the white dude (Ethan Hawke).
I like this film.
