Jones was good but he was vulnerable to very good fighters. Donaire is a quality fighter and he would knock Jones out.

Jones beat barrera; Barrera was better than Donaire. Jones was one of those guys that made a career out of being taller and bigger than opponents. Other than that, he wasn't much. Barrera got careless and got caught. Thought he won the rematch, which was scored on who threw more punches, not boxing.
Donaire never showed me much; I tried to get into him when he was on top but he didn't show me much. In boxing today skill has been replaced by the ability to manage weight fluctuation vis a vis one's height to procure unfair match ups.

Can't disagree with any of that. Jones wasn't a great fighter and he was chinny, but he could punch. Donaire hasn't beaten anyone better imo and he's not hard to hit at all these days, I really feel there are a handful of guys who would destroy him on current form if they made the fights, at bantam or featherweight.

I got Poison, more so at 122. Natural size and he knew how to fight his range with snap power at the end. Problem was same as Nonito...they both fall in love with it and could get sloppy. You could see what happened to Donaire coming...sitting, loading up on one bomb and the babble about "5 division champ" blah blah was writing on the wall when he faced someone of like size and solid ground game who called bs on him. Jones struggled weight as 118 went and I attribute lose to Johnson to stamina as much as 'chin'. Jones had a chip on his shoulder and frankly proved he could live more boxing or with accurate power. Barrera did what he always did and it was no fluke...Jones stood with him and rifled the right hand for finish. It reads 'dq' and I love Mab...but make no mistake that was a KO. Jones relied too much on Barrera charging forward in rematch and Marco discovered this wonderful thing called diversity in style but I had Jones winning rematch by 2 points. That was an awesome fight! Nonito was reading the headlines and even in his last fight didn't have the gears to outbox Darchinyan... and relied on trap power. I think Jones would punch holes through that posturing and posing for a soild tko win.

Jones chin was way too vulnerable, aside from Barrera which may be down to having his number as it happened to Shane v Forrest who in turn lost to Mayorga it happens in boxing. Jones got beat by lesser fighters than Donaire.

Jones was a massive bantamweight/super bantamweight. He was 5'8 and would tower over the 5'5 Donaire. Jones to strong

Its time to take the cape and 'S' off Donaires chest as all it did was focus him in one gear and cloaked with false security and get him schooled when it mattered the most. He was never in a lifetime hit with what he would take vs Jones brother. I'll spot you the ultimate spoiler Pinckney loss...and the Johnson fight though Johnson was a very solid fighter, literally robbed of his belt in Thailand and one who Jones had already beat...but before he hit a bad slide, McKinney and an undefeated Eric Morales were every bit the fighter Donaire is...not lesser and they threw bricks the likes of which Nonito should sleep better knowing he'll never have to face. Jones too big, too well rounded and if Vic with two left feet made him wonder "is my cheek broken" Jones would fill in the answer.

Ok I may be overrating Donaire but Ingle beat Jones, lets not over rate Jones.

On the surface imagine Sandy Saddler fighting at 122? Frightening.Trouble is Jones is no Saddler. They may be body doubles or close to it but that's where the similarities end. Saddler had more chin then Chinese phone book where as Jones had the chin of a burnt piece of toast.

Not sure what happened to Donaire? Maybe Rigo took all the air out of the bag. Hubris is one hell of a drug. He seems to have left his tool box in the dressing the last few outings. Like a mechanic bringing a crescent wrench to a motor overhaul. Still Jones was not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it came to defense. Donaire might just cash in on those octopus like tendencies but not the one handed fighter I saw last week.

Fair enough bud. But that career slide was steep and fast, clearly after Evatt beat him around the ring just prior. Seldom is it pretty in the end.

True and Ingle had a lot of heart as he did the same with Naz during the middle rounds. I have seen the last Donaire fight and he does load up a lot.
