Casual fan am I, facts are I have watched boxing in the 60's with my late father, also my son
has boxed, I have been to many professional and amateur shows trained my son 4 times a
week for about 6 years. I look forward to watching Ward, as much as I look forward to suffering
from piles.
Heard an interesting thing about Ward and his lack of knockouts. He is a converted orthodox fighter. So, he leads with his dominant hand, his left hand. His jab therefore is really a straight lead and basically his power punch. Even though he had surgery on his right hand before this fight, if you notice, he still didn't use it much. Basically, he doesn't have a powerful overhand right to follow his jab, like most orthodox fighters possess.
If that true (not that im doubting), that would mean his third punch is probably his money punch. In which case, his style is killing him. He should be throwing more combos more and setting that punch up instead of jabbing then lunging and wrestling after 1 or 2 shots. Its not easy to plan 3 punches ahead on most fighters, but him not trying is doing himself a disservice though. His fear of dangling his chin out there long enough to throw those shots and possibly get clipped like early in his career probably have him spooked.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.
