He did. For Groves, his options are wide open. Froch put him over, big time.
Good for boxing. Good for UK boxing. Good for 168-175 pounders.

When Groves was talking after about having been booed coming in and cheered after the fight, I felt very proud for him. He fought a good fight, didn't press it enough when he had Froch going and that cost him later. But I bet he won't be making that mistake again.
No doubt he gained a lot of support, but Froch had every chance to win big himself if the ref hadn't stepped in there, and was maybe robbed of that himself in a way. Would love to see a rematch, we'll see if Froch wants it after that. Looked like he'd lost a step tonight, and Groves could be a much better fighter next time he steps in the ring.
He sure did.. St. George won the hearts of millions..
George should retire from boxing, and then make a shedload of money from a biography exposing the whole corrupt institution.
Two of the judges had Froch only one round behind, and the referee was hopelessly wrong to stop the fight.
Basically Groves won every round, the first by two points. As soon as Froch put a decent attack together, after an 8 round beating, friendly referee intervenes.
I did think the Hearns were a good thing for boxing, but they're no different to Warren or Duff before him.
If I was advising Carl Froch I'd tell him to retire.
You know, sometimes in boxing there are signs when your slipping and this was it for Froch, deep down he knows.
The ref did him a favour.
It's stuff like this which makes me angry as hell with boxing. Again, like in the Mayweather-Canelo fight, the judges scorecards were dubious, only having Groves up by one round
I don't even think Groves was that badly shaken. I just think it was one of them punches which looked worst than what it was, you know the way, his head flung back.
I will say this about Froch. He has got some chin. Wow. He took some huge shots and you can't just keep on taking them.
There will be an immediate rematch. Froch's ego will demand it. He will hear and see the fallout over the next few weeks about how he was lucky and how he was getting beaten. He will hear this over and over again and he will demand rematch but to me it's a fight he can't win, someone needs to tell him.
Froch should just retire. Like when Lewis fought Klitschko, there signs are there. Now it's the time to go otherwise he will end up knocked spark out. You know, if the scenario was the other way and it was Froch who was hurt like Groves was, then I don't think the ref would have stopped it. Froch was far more badly hurt in his knock down in Rnd 1 in than Groves was.
UK refs tend to be quick stoppage refs anyway but this was just crazy. If you saw that in a kids amateur fight, you'd say the ref was premature but in world title fight ? Crazy, just crazy. It was that bad, that disgraceful of a stoppage...that I don't think the world *fix* would be inaccurate. I don't know how Howard Foster will be able to sleep at night. IMO he should never be allowed to ref at world title level again

Fuck me that was a cracking fight but I really feel for groves, he must be absolutely gutted to say the least.
The stoppage was a joke seriously bad refing yet again and the score cards, fucking hell I gave froch two rounds and 1 of the rounds I give him was very close, could go gone to groves.
I don't really like or dislike froch or groves although I was leaning towards groves before the fight but after the post fight interviews froch came across as a total dick. He was dominated by groves and looked like in inexperienced challenger and not the legendary world champ he thinks he is. If a rematch happens and I really think froch ducks groves now, I'm pretty confident groves stops him next time round.
Froch should retire for what? Froch wasn't all bad. Groves was just better than expected. Groves has given boxing fans something to think about when he exposed Degale. And now he has given us something to cheer for him for and root for him.
No one truly lost last night. Everyone won, albeit Groves won a bit more than Froch and us in terms of his stature.
Froch WILL rematch Ward. And we WILL see it. And he SHOULD rematch Groves shortly afterwards.

George has improved massively since the Anderson fight. He jumped up a league and looked a different fighter when he boxed vs degale and he did a similar thing last night jumping up another league to outslug froch
I really thought all his talk of taking centre ring was just hype but he did exactly what he said he'd do. If he continues to improve at this rate we could be onto something real special. He will learn from his mistakes and make adjustments next time but I'm not sure Carl can improve his game.
I expect the cobra would be more gunshy in a return knowing he can't open up as Hel get dropped at any time. Nobody could blame him if he walked away at the top but if he wants to risk he should give that 20k plus crowd the natural conclusion. I feel robbed of the 15 quid cuz of that ref
