If he can get a fight with: (1) Canelo, (2) Lara, (3) Martinez, (4) GGG, or (5) Macklin. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of options too.

Where he can get the most money which should be Canelo or Cotto.

Kirkland is there to be hit,! I like watching him but will he beat the best in the division,
against the best I think he will come off second best, he will always have a punchers
chance, but I feel he needs more in his arsenal.
I could be wrong,! but I don't think so.

I don't think he beats any of those guys, Macklin is the only one he'd be competitive with imo. Not that he should hope for it, but he'd be more live as a comeback opponent for Austin Trout, or Curtis Stevens for that matter. Would like to see Keith Thurman fight him as well, that would be entertaining for sure.

You sir are wise. He's a punching bag with arms.

Unfortunately, I don't see him going anywhere significant. He is what he is and whatever 'improvements' he can make have already been made. On a side...did anyone listen to that interview and think he had just been ko'd?! The man didn't 'sound' good.

He may have to move up. He sat out the rest of his GBP contract and then signed with 50 so its a safe bet he wont get Lara or Alvarez.

I think there is a likelyhood of a fight with Andrade since both fight on HBO. If they wanna build Kirkland up a bit, a fight with Vanes Martirosyan would be fun.

Kirkland looked like shit against Tapia. He was not in near the condition that he was against Angulo.

I don't see James being a champion at 154. He's got heart and power but not the total package.

at this point, i would really push for a canelo fight to semi cash out. he is more than likely going to lose to someone who isnt a really big name like trout and then fall back down in rankings. he at least has a small chance at beating canelo but i doubt it. he will at least make money and i think still get a few good fights in after that. lara is by far the worst match up for him so he should avoid lara for sure.

Canelo would be ideally for him. Biggest money + a winnable fight for him.

A guy like Lara (and probably Trout) would pick him apart.

If I'm Trout I am chasing that fight and hopefully signing with 50 afterward. So if Kirkland makes the call he's got to jump on. Trout needs to find a sense of urgency in his career and his approach to his fights. He almost fights indifferent and against a fellow counter puncher that indifference appeared to be enhanced. And get out of New Mexico. All that peyote is scrabbling his brain.

For Kirkland its a fight that can be made and dare I say he looked pretty good for a guy shy on fundamentals that has been inactive for close to 2 years with in and out trainers, his volatile relationship with Miss Wolfe and gangland mentality. He's not getting the credit he deserves given all the circumstances. Tapia was a real prospect. And props to him also for fighting Kirkland at that stage in his career. That is rare these days. Such a risk.

I don't think James has a hope in getting Lara, Alvarez or Andrade. The are all Oscar fighters and he burnt that bridge
