    Default Finland beat Russia 3-1

Putin is on suicide watch. The Americans have been the only team playing like one. Russia caved under the pressure. A guy gave me 4 to 1 on the Americans making it to the gold medal game. I took the bet.
Latvia beat the Swiss lol. So its Canada v Latvia. We have not played them since 1936.

I think we are going to see a North American final.

The Russians relied too heavily on superstars, they didn't have a TEAM that clicked. Now with time they probably could have, but it hasn't been the case for a while.

I reckon they'll have to go back to having players stay at "The Base" and fielding a team that is like the Harlem Globetrotters. Guys that play on the same Professional team, same Olympic team, and know how to play together.

Back in the day the Russians fielded some special teams, but now they only have special players.

Ovechkin, Kovalchyuk, Malkin......man I'd take Fedorov, Bure, Mogilny all day over those dudes. Datsyuk could have hung with the players from the 90's though.

Yeah, big upset. Shades of the 2006 games when Finland dominated Russia and dropped them in the semis.

That's gotta hurt on home ice, man. It's part of a bigger problem for Russia. They haven't medaled in hockey since they won bronze in 2002. Their prestige in the hockey world is falling. The three megapowers in hockey are Canada, USA and Sweden now IMO.

I think it's Canada, the US, and in a DISTANT 3rd Sweden and Finland

Finland are no joke, people overlook them (I did) but they've medaled in the last few Olympics and I was just reading an article that listed their record against Russia in the Olympics as 4-2 (now 5-2).

If I had to pick 3 countries, it'd be Canada/USA/Sweden in no particular order. I think those three have the ability to be the best at any given moment.

Canada won it last time losing to the USA and then beating them in the finals, is that right?

Finland vs Sweden will be a gritty matchup...the Fins are really high on confidence as well they should be. Plus my boy Tuomo Ruutu is on the Finland team!
