Provodnikov's Return Eyed For June 14, Rios is Unlikely - Boxing News

Apparently Rios has advised he can't make 140, and Ruslan wants to defend his title so Rios will not be the opponent unless he can get down by the looks of things. I wonder if they'll wait for the Allakhverdiev-Vargas winner?

Haha, I questioned if Rios could make 140 the other day. Dude had no muscles and a muffin top when he faced Manny. His body jiggled when he threw punches. It's time to end the charade, dude is not an elite fight. He can't beat anyone in the top 10 at Welter and the slob will be cooked if he tries to get to 140. It's over for him.

Yeah, usually I'm not a fan of guys cutting a shit load of weight and draining themselves, but in Rios' case (judging by his physique, anyway) it seems to be a case of laziness. When you're using banned substances to make weight, I think that screams unprofessional.

Personally I'm glad he's not fighting Provodnikov. Obviously it would be a great action fight, but for the integrity of boxing I don't think a guy coming off of two losses and a failed drug test should be fighting for a world title.

Rios is a tragedy waiting to happen, the way he drains himself and eats punches like M&Ms.

I don't really care what people do outside the ring but I have no time for those that disrespect the sport. First sign of respect is being in proper shape, 2nd sign is being clean. I've turned against some of my absolute favorites like Toney and Vargas for failing in those regards so I have no time for Rios.

Rios is the current version of james toney.

Someone needs to tell him to call it a day or move his head once and awhile.!?

Anthony Peterson should rematch rios. Now is a good time for revenge.

Is Rios too lazy to get 140lb? If he is then his career is over as he is not a good welterweight.

I concur. Its a bit like Gatti and Chico when they got stuck up at welterweight in no man's land. Their power did not translate and they were still taking big punchers from now much bigger men.

Rios is a good deal younger than they were, but yes, he's fucked if he is stuck at welter already.

Rios can't afford to lose three in a row, I don't think he'd have any trouble making 140 for an easy fight.
