"Within the system" for me means anyone literally within the system, but I would break it down as anyone reliant on the government. This is where I have been changing politically in recent years. The British government controls half the economy which means that most people are trapped within the system and the government is pulling their strings. They are dependent on the state for many aspects of their lives. The US is better at about 32%. To be free from the government means to not need them, to pay lower taxes, to be in a system that doesn't repress you. The UK is only good if you own your house, claim benefits, or have children, for anyone else, you are being ripped off. Beyond the system means independence and liberty.

In that sense I am within the system here too, but the system isn't trying to control you. VAT is 10%, income tax 5% and you get that back through an end of year rebate. Bills are cheap, transport is cheap, nobody is ripping you off and making you reliant on them. Schools are kept basic, if you want more you go private for tuition as after all parenting is a choice. Hospitals are run on an insurance basis, but much cheaper than the US. This means independence for me, but also everyone else. No single mums to pay for, not millions on benefits, controlled immigration. Basically a better society as knowing that the system isn't your overlord, you have to make much more sensible decisions.

technically even if you live in the rainforest you are still in the system. So there is no escape. we are all on one planet. but that doesnt mean me and Miles are hypocrites. Nor are we elitist. Those characterizations are simply not fair.
