Because he went the distance with Darch? His most impressive win for me is his stoppage of Perkovic in 5 as he is a hard fighter to stop but as for tough competition he hasnt exactly beaten anyone that you would say Joshua wouldnt beat.
Savon is a world class fighter. I agree that Joshua doesnt deserve the win over Savon. But to call the chaps Hughie beat the best in the world is just silly, it was a fucking youth competition and to make things worse he was in the final against an Indian, reknowned for producing world class heavies.
My point was, if the right result was read out, Joshua wouldnt have got past the first fight. He was hyped to fuck before the Olympics which was held in his home town. It was made for him to win. Hughie did his on his own merits, not an with an olympic commitee backing him.
They were still the best in the world of that age group at super heavy.
Hughie may not be knocking people over now but hes learning how to box against pros. His strength will come and he will start to relax as Chris Eubank Jr is now doing. He was labelled as "feather fisted" but is now on a run of stoppages.
I have a feeling they will learn.
Just remember what everyone thought aout Price when he was knocking over journeymen.
There will come a point where Hearn will move Joshua up and because hes now even believing the hype hes put out it will be too much of a jump in class.
I dont think Joshua is as vulnerable as Price but I do think he will look like a robot against someone who can move.
Fortunately for him there is fuck all good heavyweights who can move.
Once Tyson Fury comes up against a good mover he'll look shit too. Like the way Cunningham made him look clumsey in parts. Haye would have done that too him. Again fortunately for him there arent many heavies with that style anymore.
You have a point!
I want to say something that isnt pro Fury but I just cant fucking help myself! Im looking forward to seeing what difference being with Peter Fury will have on Chambers.
I think they are trying to push for Lucas Browne for Chambers in June on the Chisora v Fury bill. Chambers has good movement but hes too far down the road for Hearn to risk Joshua against. If he moves him as slow as Maloney did Price, he wont be fighting McDermott until 2016!
The danger with a fighter like Joshua or Wilder and Price is they are very good punchers but not very good fighters as they don't get the chance to learn.
I like seeing Joshua fight, I think he always looks good, his punch power always looks impressive and I agree that he will probably make fairly short work of this opponent. Hughie Fury's still got plenty more to learn, and at 19 I don't see the need for him to step up too quickly, nice small steps, with a little bit more progress with each fight.
Will be very interesting when Whyte gets back on the scene too!
He's serving his time well, giving Wlad and the Furys a hard time in sparring.
Cjambers joined the camp weighing less than 200lb and now weighs 230lb. He said he was on a shit veggie diet to get down to cruiser and really weakened himself. Peter has got him a weight coach and nutritionist and hes now got his muscle back. They will then be cutting back the fat. Peter is getting him to throw more punches per round in training and sparring and has said hes not fighting until hes doing it in training.
Heres a picture from when he joined the vcamp and how he looks now.
