There were couple of reasons.. these guys were contracted under rival networks. Chang fought on KBS while Yuh fought for MBC so it was no different than HBO and Showtime fighters..

Second, ( although I believed these guys were pretty much equal) the general public in Korea at the time considered Yuh as a level or two below Chang so there wasnt much of a push for this bout to happen, and on top of that, the korean boxing culture was very nationalistic and they favored having more champions rather than having domestic showdowns between the top guys..

Like it matters? Lol u guys don't know asian boxing like I do so I don't put much stock in your opinion. No offense.

During my days at esb and Ivyleague boxing forum, me along with the other experts and top historians got into this discussio in the classic section and it was unanimous that chang would be a nightmare for lopez. As I said, I'm a die hard finito fan so I would probably pick him if it came down to it but ultimately Al this is a pick em fight.

U need to stud more asian boxing, Al. Cuz right now, you are at that intermediate level.

For the record I was a huge fan of both Chang and Yuh , I personally thought Yuh may have been the better fighter , however I think Lopez is the most complete fighter ive every seen , which is why for me he wins.
As for our opinion not mattering , then why did u ask in the first place ?

Chang at his best... shit is unreal.. Once he got into that zone, it was as if his fists were magnetized to the face of his opponents..

I dont know what kind of shit you laced on that blunt but calling chang B- level fighter is the most asinine shit ive ever heard!

People in the west dont pay attention to asian boxing so I understand but you couldnt be more wrong, VD..

A fighter whose arguably the best fighter ever of his division is a B- level fighter?

Dont get me wrong cuz as u can see on my sig and avi,, Finito lopez is one of my favorite fighters ever but to say that Chang wouldnt last more than 2 rds is plain stupid..

A knock on both these fighters is that their resumes are pretty shallow which isnt their fault but ....

Who exactly did Finito fight to make u believe that he would walk over Chang?

    U just trippin
That was actually suppose to be a B+. And theres nothing wrong with being a B+ fighter. Not everybody can be an A+ fighter. Chang was a very good fighter. Fun to watch. Homie went out like a G in his last fight. He's very deserving of being in the HOF. I think he's still the only Korean boxer to ever make Ring's pound for pound list. He was a damn good fighter. But Lopez was just on another level than him. You can't watch Chang fight and than watch Lopez fight and think yeah Chang beats him. Come on now. Styles make fights. Chang style would be all wrong for him against Lopez. Chang deserves to be on top 100 fighters of all time list. Lopez deserves to be on top 20 fighters of all time list
Not to get all technical but Chang was an A+ level fighter at his best and I thought this was something everybody can agree on. You just mentioned all his achievements of being the first Korean fighter to make it to the Ring's P4P list, how he got inducted to the HOF not too long ago, and as I mentioned earlier, he's constantly being mentioned as the #1 JFW of all times so how can a fighter like that be considered as anything less than an A+ level fighter? shit dont add up..

You are right, it is all about styles and they both have what it takes to frustrate one another.. We can sit here and say Finito would break him down with his god given boxing ability but we can also argue that Chang's constant pressure would give him shitload of trouble.

It's like Pac and Marquez. ON paper, Marquez is so much superior technically and he should be able to win everytime but look what happens when they get in the ring.. Marquez gets taken to hell and back every single time..

And besides, Finito was the man at 105 but he wasn't proven at 108... 108 division belonged to Chang..

Look what Rosendo Alvarez did to Finito and Chang is leagues above him..

Like I said man, Finito is my Boxing idol and if I had to put my life on it, Id go with him but this bout is pretty evenly matched up..

Chang does has a case for being the best Junior Flyweight ever. But Junior Flyweight has the weakest history of all the divisions. A lot of its past title holders were just terrible. As was a lot of his opposition. Say what you want about Lopez's opposition but he never had a fellow country men threat in his division and not face him. It's inexcusable that Chang and Yuh never fought. And it's something that hurts both of there legacies.

Alvarez was a damn good fighter. His resume is better than Chang's

If only lopez had been 40-50 pounds heavier! He was an AMAZING fighter but the little guys never get recognition. I think Lopez, if u really watch him fight, was better than anyone else during that generation. That includes sweet pea, Roy, Evander, and Chavez. He was HUGE for his weight, and a more complete fighter than any of those guys. Pea had better defense, but worse offense n couldn't hit as hard. Evander was tough n a solid boxer, but not as good defensively or as disciplined in a fight. Roy was faster n unorthodox but Lopez was the much better technician n tougher than Roy. Chavez was a tough as nails n had a great body attack, but he could never move, box, n dominate both the inside n outside like Lopez

Not sure that it is a complete blow out, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was. If lopez caught u with a good one, that was all she wrote.
