Default How did Shumenov ever get a belt?

I think Finito said it the other day, he's the worst champion in a long time, maybe ever. He has no boxing presence in the ring. I've never seen anyone, let alone a titleholder, fight that way. I had seen him a few times before last night but I guess I never really attentively paid attention. I almost went to see him in Vegas on an old Fox sports card but never made it. He's the worst.

I wasn't really familiar with him, and when they were introducing him I was wondering what the fuck a guy with 15 pro fights and no trainer in his corner was doing in the ring with Hopkins.

He got belted plenty of times last night....
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

I didn't think he was that bad. I think he was/is a fairly decent fighter.... but it was CLEARLY OBVIOUS that he lacks "guidance" and "a second voice"... it was clear by the 5th round that he didn't know what to do when he main plan went south.

He made it very, very far in this game without having a trainer- with him being self trained. It shows his raw talent to not just manage his in ring talents, but also his out of the ring talent with getting fights and being put in positions with win titles.

The man can come back, but dear God I wish he gets at least a half-way decent trainer. It doesn't have to be a Nazim Richardson, Nacho Beristain or a Freddie Roach.... but someone who can see things a little more clearly for him.

In fairness you can make that a default question nowadays. Simply shuffle the name every couple of years.

Anytime...anytimee we see a trinket(s) unified and less clutter, I'm in favor.

The guy had no trainer and deserves a break and like @Spicoli said last night, it looked like he was trying to get an autograph. Ironically when he was looking for a trainer Richardson applied but said he did not take direction and said he'd be better off on his own.

He landed an impressive left hook against someone on a US bill and it was replayed a million times so they gave him a title.

Whatever happened to Kevin Barry? I thought he trained Shumenov?
