Default Who do you think won? Mayweather or Maidana? (spoilers....watch fight first)

I watched the fight and thought Maidana started the fight incredibly well. It was like Mosley in round two, but from the off and sustained. It tapered off somewhat, but Maidana was still outworking Mayweather by the half way mark. I gave Mayweather only round 5 of the 1st 6. It started to turn around noticeably in the mid second half and Mayweathers shots were clearly flashier and he was dictating the pace more. That was clearly Mayweathers zone. I think I gave Maidana another mid round, but cannot recall which and then my stream chopped out somewhat in the 10th. I thought Maidana did enough to outhustle the final 2 rounds. Overall, my impressions were not absolute, but I felt Maidana did enough to win based on dominating the first half of the fight. I don't see how you can be 5-1 down and lose the final 2 and win the fight. I'm sure I gave him another round too.

I think Maidana won the fight and was surprised that Mayweathers legs looked so off, but I guess he is quite old and every challenger should want it as much as Maidana did. I am currently downloading and will watch it more closely and give a card, but first appraisals said Maidana.

Thoughts? And of course make sure you vote as I am into numbers.

Maidana. He out worked Mayweather, cornered him and didn't take any shit.

    I had Maidana 115-113 - 5 of the early 6 as well.

Compubox showed how close a fight it was - i dont have a problem if floyd won if by SD etc and close score - within a margin of appreciation for error - but 117-113 and 116-112 NO WAY!

    Maidana 115-113 for me!

The 2 cards were ludicrous, I could see that maybe you score rounds for Mayweather based on snappier punching in some rounds, but Maidana landed almost the same number of shots overall and yet won only a few rounds according to one judge? I think the rounds Mayweather won were quite clear, but I think the same for Maidana in the first half. Even Showtime were off with it even at half way. I just don't see how they had that. It was almost as though they kept it close at the end as an apology for the aberration. Fair enough on the draw, but I think Showtime showed their true colours with their cash cow. I don't think 5 out of 6 votes from the fans will go Mayweather's way.

Mayweather won 7-5 and if they fight again it should sell good numbers even though maidana can't beat floyd. I don't know if floyd just had a off night or age is starting to catch up with him but maidana can't and won't ever beat an old floyd

i had it 9-3 Floyd. Only gave Maidana round 1.5 and 8. Dont like giving rounds for work rate when he landed nothing clean. I though 114-114 was a joke. Cant see how u can give Chino 6 rounds.

I think people are dead set on seeing Floyd lose that it clouds their judgment. I give the early rounds to Maidana but once Floyd stood his ground it was all Money. The 117-111 is more then fair. No need for a rematch. Khan vs Money should be interesting while it last and the possibilities for Maidana are off the chart if he continues to look like he did last night.

I had it even until the eighth, though I may have been a little generous to Maidana. After that I couldn't make an argument for him: he had 30-40 seconds of sustained pressure per round which, had he maintained it, would have given him the nod for me, even though his work was not as clean as Floyd's, it was awkwardly effective, and he did a very good job of closing the distance and making it ugly. I was also a little surprised at how well he used his jab at times, but unfortunately he faded late, partially due to the exertion of the early rounds and partially due to some cute body shots from Floyd in the mid to late rounds. Decent fight though.

At first I thought this was a joke thread, of course Mayweather won the fight.

But then when I noticed the Pac option I realised it was a smart thread.

Pacquiao is definitely the winner of that fight. More than ever now it underscores that Pac vs Floyd is the fight that HAS to happen!

Based on that performance Pac is back in the running with as good a chance as any of being able to get the goods, and Mayweather would know it too.

Expect more running and hiding to come fellas :yep!!!

A guy like Manny that falls-in on one foot, with his hands down will never beat Mayweather.

He can't even get by JMM.

Maidana would kick Tim's ass far worse than Manny did...you best believe that.

Maidana has been showing a LOT more lately than Bradley.

Same. 7-5 kind of fight. Odd fight this one. He did the same thing with Cotto including choosing to go to the ropes and at times the corners. I think he wanted to try and Cottofy the fight and it got away on him.
I was hoping he'd fight Khan next but I think he needs the rematch.

I have to rewatch the fight again. Cuz I saw it exactly the same way you did. The first 5 rounds I thought were maidanas then mayweather turned it up a notch but I still had maidana winning atleast 3 more rounds after the 6th. I don't see how the fight was scored for mayweather. I know that he knows what it really was. I've never seen him so nervous or scared in his life. But like I said I'm going to rewatch it and actually score it each round when they replay it.
