    Default Priority

You have a young son/nephew/cousin/friend who you love and is a rising amateur star and you will be managing and looking after him.

What are your priority considerations you need to take into account for their
    Health and well being
    Finances
    Becoming World champion and
    Legacy
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

I would think health and well being should be the main focus. I had a cousin being scouted by the Boston Bruins Hockey team. He was beyond good but he lost his Well being which led to him smashing his leg in a drunk driving accident. He was so close to having the world by the balls I think he lost sight of the real stuff. Do you have a family member with extraordinary talent master.

1/ assess very carefully if they have any PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITION WHICH COULD TURN INTOA FATALITY IN THE RING.

2/ determine if there are other less-violent, less-dangeous career options.

3/ determine if they can psychologically handle fame, fortune and stardom, and not utterly come apart and unravel like Mike Tyson or Leon spinks did.

Would never, could never encourage any relative to become a professional boxer.
Amateur boxing is great, it builds confidence, shows young people that a bloody nose is the beginning of a fight not the end, at times can be useful, and is a terrific way to exercise.
Pro boxing is something entirely different and I would not recommend it to anyone if they had other options at all.
If they were determined, I could not be a part of it!

i would say say that their well being in the obvious first and most important factor. becoming great means nothing if you are brain dead and have a a depressing life. there is more to life than just achieving something. you must achieve it while having your life in order for it to be worth anything.

finances kind of go along with that because some people are idiots with their money and it ruins their life so i would say that that kind of goes along with their well being.

after they are set as a person, then winning and title and getting a legacy is the goal.

In this modern world that aspect for a serious fighter in Britain should almost take care of itself by the time he makes his move. I'd lean the other way a bit to be sure that he was not being coddled. Shame about this silly "0" times we are in or I'd say put him in a little tougher right off the bat to get a little taste of adversity rather then have him fall apart when he gets beat at 15 and 0 believing he was indestructible cause he fought the tomato aisle.

    Finances

Crazy as it sounds that would be my most important task if I were directly involved on his behalf. You know as well as anyone of the riches to rags stories in boxing. A solid accelerated RRSP once he started getting paid or even before using any monies he may get through donation or local endorsements. A lot of this has to do with how far along he is of course. Lots of down and out once were millionaire boxers out there.

    Becoming World champion and
    Legacy

Set realistic goals. Getting out of that competitive meat grinder British scene will be tough enough and he may not and that's why the finance part is so important. Don't tell him that though
Oh and keep him away from the porn.

I agree I would not want my son part of the game it is corrupt and dangerous.

Good responses and I did not think of the persons character, mentality and personality which will have a huge impact on their climb to success.
