    Default Damnit Wlad...

    YOU ARE A DISGRACEFUL CHEATER!!!

I just watched an edited clip on youtube of his fight vs. Povetkin. The cheating was an absolute disgrace to boxing. Disgrace.

The amount of throwing, holding behind the head and pushing down on the neck was appalling. Absolutely sickening.

    Damnit Wlad- YOU CHEAT!!!

It was a complete joke, probably the worst antics I've ever seen by a fighter who wasn't docked a single point. The ref was may as well have been asleep in the corner, but that doesn't excuse Wlad for me, he completely ruined the fight.

LOL... talk about a delayed reaction.
But you're absolutely right. Wlad did everything in that fight except physically put Povetkin in a WWE headlock and slam him to the canvas. It's a desperate tactic born out of fright of getting your chin touched.

That was what I was thinking, that fight happened ages ago and now you complain. I still pissed that Roberto Duran punched Buchanan in the balls.

That fight was pathetic, the sad thing of it all is wlad didnt have to resort to those tactis at all, when he boxed he boxed povetkin's ears off and had him on queer street but he went with the safest option.

Yes it made me wonder if he is still chinny. Povetkin finished his last fighter in good style, so maybe Wlad knew he was very dangerous and felt the power which resorted him to grapple.

I watched the first three rounds of the fight live and knew Wlad was stinking up the joint.... saw the rest of the fight a few days later and was a little upset and bored, so I was in and out of it. I said to myself on both occasions that Wlad is just stinking up the joint- and even he knew it.

But, when I saw how bad it was with this edited version of the fight, focused specifically on Wlad's holding behind the neck and pushing Povetkin downwards, then I saw and realize how REALLY bad and egregious it was/is.

It was so bad that it may warrant post-fight sanctions if they could on BOTH Wlad, Wlad's camp and the referee in this instance.

The judges could do nothing if the ref didn't decide to take action. No ref should allow any fighter to get away with this.

It's bad enough Wlad is smattering his reign with non-descript contenders like Leapai, Mormeck, Wach and Pianetta- but does he have to resort to this and people allow him to?

NO!! This was as disgraceful as it gets. We should continually speak on this. Disgraceful!!

Wlad adapts to his opponents. The more danger he faces the more cautious he becomes and resorts to these tactics. Even in the last fight just before Lepai was knocked out in he threw an overhand right that missed but, even though it didn't connect, Wlad wobbled in the anticipation of taking the blow on the chin. It would be interesting to see Wlad face Wilder with the power he has. My bet would be Wlad used every trick in the book to wear Wilder down. Wilder hasn't been in a war and I think the education he has in the pro and amateur ranks is poor so could never find a way through to Wlads chin.

I'm not quite sure that's the case, Wlad has fought some very dangerous opponents and once he hurt them he slammed the door shut on them. The Derrick Jefferson fight comes to mind as one of those, vs Corrie Sanders he was attempting to do the same thing only Wlad was the one who ended up getting caught. When he felt he could stop Sam Peter he did it in the rematch, he didn't press in the first fight because the first and only time he hurt Sam in that fight was in the last round.

Was he trying to tire out Povetkin? Yes, he always does that to his opponents. He also tries to get them good and frustrated so maybe they open up and try harder to knock him out sapping more of their strength but also opening up holes where Wlad can land cleaner punches. It's safe, it's smart, it's effective.

It's all about strategy and when people complain it does nothing. If the ref calls it he'll stop it, if the ref doesn't he'll keep doing it and it'll be that way until he retires. He's a cagey fighter and he'll bend the rules in his favor the way great fighters do. You see Floyd use his elbows a lot, you saw Holyfield use his head, you saw Tyson use his forearms and head, you saw Ali hang on the neck, you saw Foreman push, you saw Lewis push or clinch, Vitali (much like other heavyweights) loved to initiate clinches and then on breaking them punch first and hardest. Legal? It's an on the fence call it was very effective because when you get fighters accepting clinches they leave themselves open/vulnerable and when it breaks before the ref gets there they are never ready for Vitali's punch which is immediate, powerful, and accurate....it's just a part of the sport and although you may hate Wlad for what he's doing, the next champion will bend rules as well, it's just the way things are. Either you accept it for what it is or you're butthurt and you just don't like Wlad which I am certain plenty of people will wholeheartedly admit to.
