Default Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr camps set to talk on Tuesday night 10/6/14

Eddie Hearn will open talks with the representatives of Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr on Tuesday night as he attempts to make the Las Vegas superfight that will tick the last box in Carl Froch’s incredible career.
The Nottingham fighter is desperate to headline in Vegas before retiring from the ring and Hearn, his promoter, is keen to make a bout with Mexico’s former middleweight world champion at the end of November or in December.
Talks have already opened with James DeGale, the mandatory challenger for Froch’s IBF super-middleweight title, but that fight does not need to take place until February, while Hearn will also discuss a third fight against Mikkel Kessler this week.

Would love to see the Chavez fight.
The Kessler and DeGale fights leave me cold, DeGale seems a little inexperienced for Froch and the Kessler fight has me asking what else is there to prove.
Of course, I'm from the US.

Agree this is a good matchup, I think is pretty much Guaranteed Froch wants to go this route as he's dying to fight in Vegas

I also think he'll win this then want some more of the Vegas vibe and fight out there again, would LOVE to see him in against GGG at some point before he retires.

Hate or love Froch you can't begrudge him the chance to fight in Vegas. What do you think the chances are of a matchup with GGG in the future?

Froch wants to fight in Vegas which really means he wants to fight Junior for big money and less risk. Would he fight Ward in Vegas. Probably not but he may want to fight GGG in Vegas as a back up.

I know vegas has historical significance for a boxer but so does MSG and I do not hear him say he wants to fight there. Must be tax reasons to fight in Vegas.

Chavez don't deserve a shot at all. I would be annoyed if this was carls last fight to be honest. He still has bigger fights that can be made and will be highly capable of winning those fights too...

Even though Froch would be taking the smaller purse against Chavez it would still be more than he would make in any other fight

Referring to the "dumbest boxing fans" thread... I can't of any stupider fans than those who make Chavez Jr. such a big draw, when all he has to show for his efforts is a bloated record, a humiliating shutout by the first elite fighter he faced (Martinez), a long record of cheating to make weight, and the ability to sponge of his pappy's name.

Now THOSE are some stupid fans.

Carl is stuck between a rock and a hard place. After all that he has given to this sport he deserves to fulfill one of his dreams just for him. That dream is a Vegas fight but he cant just grab Degale or someone and expect to garner a bunch of cash. He'd have to get on a Floyd undercard for that and be the second last match of the evening. I'm not sure a third Kessler fight does all that well either. Even unification with Abraham or Bika would not be worthy of either network and Ward is in perpetual limbo.
@Violent Demise is right. Even a Ward fight wont provide the kind of cash a Chavez fight will whether he deserves it or not. In addition I'm not sure that he would be less dangerous then Kessler, Bika or Araham and may even be a tougher fight aside from the rankings at this point.

I've been unfair to this kid because of his seemingly endless coddling but he's a pretty damn good fighter. He deserves some props for taking this fight if he does because he most likely has a much easier route to a title via Bika. That's actually what I have been expecting but he also makes more money with Froch. If I'm honest with myself I think Chavez beats Bika and Abraham and maybe Kessler so I cant then admonish Froch for fighting him. He's a big kid who can punch, has more chin then a Chinese phone book, loves the pocket and is as fundamentally sound as Groves paying Froch twice as much or at least double digits. I've kind of talked myself into liking this fight.

i mainly want this fight to happen because i want chavez to get beat badly. there is no way that he beats froch and i would predict a KO win. people talk about chavez having a granite chin but he has never fought anybody of this size with this kind of punch. froch is a whole different animal than what chavez is used to. this would probably be the worst fighter that froch has faced for years.

Ward is where it is at to be considered the best super middleweight in the world. They can all pretend he does not exist, does not bring in the money or has contractual disputes but he is the man at the weight.

Froch is not scared behave yourself. He has earned the right to make money and I am sure he will want to rematch Ward before he retires, he has pride about his legacy.

I agree here. What the fuck is the point in rematching Ward? It wasn't a great fight the first time and I think Froch has very little chance of beating Ward. He gave a good effort and lost a UD.

Lets see him in exciting fights against other world class fighters.

And yes, Chavez Jr. is world class, barely. lol
