What do people think of Hauser's article on Haymon's next moves?

I think the last paragraph sums it up quite nicely. Boxing is pretty self-destructive in that regard. I love the sport of boxing, but abhor the business side and couldn't care less about the inside politics except that they're ruining boxing much like corrupt/inept judges are. The power struggles in boxing will continue to get in the way of good fights, and will continue to alienate fans.

    Great article.

I think in the near future we'll be watching the Al Haymon boxing league in America.

A guest appearance on Hoarders and then his own reality tv show.

I think he's good for boxing. He's gotten better fights done for his fighters then TR and GBP combined. I can see him starting a Welterweight tournament after Floyd retires to determine the best Welterweight in the world. He has Danny ,Thurman, Porter ,Broner ,Matthysse and more.

I'm torn on how to view Haymon's takeover of boxing. On the one hand, he's good for boxers and there are too many great boxers that we seen suffer greatly later in life, not just from the physical effects of boxing but destitute and without any resources to keep them afloat. Haymon got guys like Andre Berto and Adrian Broner more money than arguably their talent warranted. On the other hand, how many of his fighters are paid handsomely without having to face any challenges or languish without fighting anyone of note. Look at Garcia and Quillin now. How many fights are we missing because Haymon is the advisor?

From a selfish perspective, I want the best fights, but from a perspective of what's best for the boxers, I want the boxers to be best off. It's a somewhat tough call.

I bet he signs Rigo right after his last fight under Arum in China.

Yes, but look at who they are facing now: Garcia faced Herrera and now faces Salka (who?) when he could face Peterson. Broner and Matthysse aren't facing each other when they could be. Porter and Thurman aren't facing each other when they could be.

Good for the fighters but bad for the fans?

I dont think its bad for anyone. Maybe he's trying keep them all winning so that Floyd has plenty of options for he's next fight Porter is fighting Brook which is a good fight. Dont forget that Hayman did get Garcia vs Matthysse made. He makes good fights for he's fighters and fans. Gives them tough fights then an easy one afterwards.

I'd prefer to see good fights regularly. Are you excited about Garcia-Salka? Garcia had this great win and now? Peterson had the dynamic win over the Canadian guy and now what? Same for Thurman? Quillin other than N'Jikam? Think about all the names at or around that weight class signed to Haymon and what fights you would like to see and what fights we're getting.

Haymon is going to get Richard Schaefer to head his new promotional team and make majority of the fights. I say that because Al is not going to let personal reasons stop the money from coming because Dick don't like the Old Dick, or the man that like Dick All of which is going to be use by Mayweather's money after his last fight.

Haha, a good one and a dark possibility.
I doubt if Hayman even knows how things are going to play out, there are so many variables, I don't see how he could.
I'm pretty sure he is going to be spending a lot of time and money in court.
If I was Hayman, I'd lay out the money for some military grade body armor too. There is a lot of money in boxing, enough for everyone so when someone comes along wanting to do it "his way", he can expect some stiff resistance.
I know one thing for sure, Hayman doesn't have enough money to buy everyone off.
We'll see how it plays out. Boxing is so fucked up in some ways, that sometimes I'd like to see someone like Hayman come along and straighten the the whole thing out. lol
Who would you trust with that kind of power?

they are stay busy fights in my opinion at the same time Haymon is not very well liked. Arum doesn't want to work with him and Mayweathers promotion doesn't have a license yet. You gotta remember he's an advisor not a promoter so now that their out of GBP its tough to get the fights they need. I think these fights are just till the promotion thing is sorted out. Even Floyd who said he wouldn't do business with Oscar without Richard is getting he's next fight done by GBP. They need a promoter behind them and are yet to have one.

Another promoter who will build his own empire and not make the best fight out there because he will not work with other promoters. Great.
