After Bout Comments
Mac Foster
"Do I feel bad. No not really. He's the #1 Ranked Heavyweight, and I'm Ranked #9. I fought pretty good in there.
Many of the Rounds were close, but he won the bout."
"I have never gone past 8-Rounds before, so I had to pace myself early. I guess I gave away too many early Rounds.
I picked up the pace in Round 7, and gave Muhammad a good going over in the 7th, 8th and 10th. I got a little
arm-weary at the end of the 10th-Round, and he knew it."
"Did he hurt me. No not really. He stung me and at the end of Round 10 with a 'left-right' at the Bell. But no, he never hurt me."
"I got a little weary in Round 11, but I recovered and got my second-wind for Round 12."
"Muhammad doesn't punch that hard, but he works that left jab overtime. He keeps it coming in all night long. That's hard to avoid."
"Muhammad is bigger than you think. He's big {6' 3" and 225 lbs.}, and he is quick for a man that large. He is difficult to hit clean,
and hard to out-maneuver."
"He said that after he wins back the Championship {later this year in late-1972 or early-1973}, he would give me an opportunity next year.
I'll hold him to his word."
