Default Rigondeaux to fight Sod Kokietgym this weekend in Macoa

I cant say I have ever heard of him, this match up doesn't make me excited. I hope he starts unifying soon. Viloria and Shimming are on the card too.

Sod will put up a good effort, though he hasn't been quite the same since Superman 2.

Lol I remembered the name and sure enough.. THis is the same Sod who was blitzed in the first round against Ponce De Leon in 2006 It was on the undercard to Mosley-Vargas, wicked KO. Guy is 37 now and has been feeding on club fighters since that KO it seems, what an awful mismatch.

I almost feel sorry for Rigondeaux, after beating Donaire convincingly and completely shutting out Agbeko he still has to go looking for fights and take what he can get.
Maybe the Chinese will appreciate his boxing style and lay down some money for big fights.
Rigo is just not a big draw in the USA.

On a hit and not get hit basis you can make a case for Rigondeaux currently being pound for pound number one. This is the last fight on his current contract. Promoters should be queuing up to sign him.

    And yet.

Arum says he has to look exciting in this fight, change his style and entertain or he isn't getting offered a new contract. And even if he is offered a new contract it won't be for the same kind of money as his last one.

And if Arum won't sign him will Golden Boy want him? The last thing they want is to match him with Santa Cruz who has the ability to sell a lot of tickets and be in a lot of exciting fights in the future. Getting shut out by Rigo puts a big damper on his career.

Now I've said this watch Haymon sign him. But which of his existing fighters would Haymon match him with and why? ( I think Santa Cruz is GBP and Haymon.) And who would buy the fight?

This fight should make Rigo look good. Sod will come to fight unlike Agbeko meaning Rigo will land and stop him. Rigo just needs to be matches against vertain types of fighters and he will sell tickets.

I was convinced Agbeko would attack also and I think that's why the picked him, but Rigo just seems a snake charmer. Its like trying to fight in braille, he literally ties a guy in knots. If I remember wasn't Sod on the bad end of a iffy call vs Ponce De Leon the first time in a good scrap? That was a lifetime ago. 65 fights and last opponent was making his pro debut

Supposedly its his last fight with Arum and Top Rank, and Leo Santa Cruz says thats the fight he wants. So hopefully now they can make it happen cause thats the fight we really wanna see, clearly they are the 2 best fighters in the division and there styles should make for an interesting fight. I fully expect Rigo to win convincingly this Saturday night by UD.

I like Rigo. I wonder if he is willing to adjust his style to bring in a little more excitement. The guy can be untouchable but you know if he wins, which he is good at, he will win on points. I find sometimes he spends to long on his horse. I like the guy and would love to see him go main stream. I know he can be boring but he knows how to win .I'd like to see him fight someone who would keep the pressure on him moving forward throughout the fight.

The thing is Rigo can actually punch hard enough. If someones tries to pressure him with any kind of reckless abandon they would likely be getting pole axed, and people who fight him find this out rather quickly I suspect. Just don't get the dislike for the guy myself, he is a beautiful fighter.
