    I like tyson.

    Love the tyson story.

    Youngest heavyweight champ in history..etc

But, what other job can you be convicted of rape and still earn so many more millions..

Should he have been banned from boxing after the prison sentance or was the sentance justice.

The obvious answer is money and how much money tyson made everyone post rape but I cant help thinking if it was your sister would you still have as much love for him?!

He became a big draw largely on account of being a scary mother in the first place, it's not as if it ruined his image I'm sure you could point to a handful of guys in the arts; music, film, theatre etc who have been convicted of similar crimes and kept being successful though. Roman Polanski kept making movies etc, off the top of my head. I'm sure there are lots of rappers you could list as well, but I liken most of that stuff to rape to begin with myself.

If my sister told me she was going to visit Mike Tyson alone in his hotel room at 2am or whatever, I would tell her that she will either be consenting to some terrifying sexual encounter, or be getting raped. I usually hate all the slut shaming or victim blaming stuff, but in this case, I dunnno..

Floyd Mayweather doesn't seem to have a much more pleasant disposition towards women today, it certainly hasn't hurt his earning potential. Combat sports are obviously not going to cater to the most conscientious of consumers by and large.

I think a lot of people don't buy the victim's story. Only they know what happened that night but I've always found it suspect at best. I don't know too many hardcore or casual fans who honestly believe he raped her so people tend to not hold it against him as much.

I don't see how his success in the box office had anything to do with whether people believe he raped that women or not, or if anything it was enhanced by the common belief that he did. Ask yourself if anyone would honestly believe he wasn't capable of it? He was an extremely violent and unstable man with no respect for women. It simply had nothing to do with the fact that he was a freak of nature people would pay to see fight.

This. A lot of court analysts looking back in review of this consider this as a great miscarriage of justice on Tyson. He was a lot of things, did a lot of things... but he did not rape this woman.

He paid dearly for that stupid act, went to prison, lost the respect of many in the boxing community, and all the money he could have earned in the ring. Man!

He earned a lot more money in the ring after he got out of prison, when he was nowhere near as good as he had been. Obviously it didn't hurt his marketability was my point. I might be wrong but I believe the Lewis fight was actually his highest purse as a pro, so what does that tell you? That was years after proving time and again that he was still a terrible human being who was practically finished as a fighter to boot! What people thought of him as a person had nothing to do with his success as a fighter, just as it never has for practically anyone.

First of all, rape is dumb in America, they are thick. Tupac went to prison for "sodomy and rape" which went down as the equivalent of grabbing a chicks ass, there was no entry through the vag nor the back end at all. He was given up to 4 1/2 years

Secondly, Desiree Washington (the victim) was massively discredited and her story was never consistent.
There were no marks on her body.
The entire evidence was her word.
SHE HAD A HISTORY OF MAKING UP LIES ABOUT BEING RAPED.

Third off, the max sentence if guilty was 60+ years (63 I think), and they only gave him 3 years.

I'm skeptical about this whole rape thing. Hard to believe that a multi million pound boxer has to rape someone, when he could simply walk down stairs and pick up 95% of the chicks he sees.

That bitch got boned hard then told to catch a cab, he was trying to fuck a groupie, and she was trying to get a husband. She got pissed off when he threw her $10 dollars for her $11 dollar cab ride home and decided to make some shit up.

Well if it was clear-cut like Paulie Ayala, IBeabuchi, ect I think it would be different.

But I think a lot of people felt, and still feel, like Mike was shafted and was innocent on that charge.

Not saying Mike was the greatest guy towards women and didn't do questionable things with them, but in reading about that particular case it seems kind of shady.

Mike Tyson was set up by the Mafia because he didn't want to fix fights. Pure and simple.

The justice system doesn't always work. Just because he was convicted doesn't mean people can't doubt the decision.

Mike was a piece of shit for sure, but I have serious doubts as to that guilty verdict.

When you have even women saying "why did she go to his hotel room at 2am" then I think it explains the way society generally view these type of "rape" cases.

Therefore Tyson is a rapist but not really a "bad" rapist (Just incase Missy reads this, it's not my view, merely how I believe the majority view it. Rape is rape.)
