Nothing wrong with a little fun, but some of this is getting fookin ridiculous. A "bucket" fine...but I have fools on Fb filling trash cans with 50lbs of ice, breaking hydrants and parking chairs behinds dumptrucks and fire trucks

We get it, topper. Write a check. I remember growing up in Ca. You were fined and restricted to certain days (if any) as far as washing cars and watering the lawn. I also remember people paying $10 bucks for a block of ice immediately after Katrina.

Oh shit. I just went all Oprah

Yeah some people will think the west is even more insane than they do now. Wars are being fought over water in some countries right now cause they know its worth and here these western modern nuff nuffs are out pouring the stuff down the drain.

Its all ok though; "Really, because if it stops raining, we can just buy it in bottles"!

Charity is always a sticky wicket, is it doing what it says on the tin or is it lining some greedy cunts pocket? I think the answer in most cases is the later. Playing on people's vanity is a good way of extracting a few quid though. Waste of water? Meh.......we sorted out the worlds water problems 20 years ago and every year since didnt we?

I dont know about the world but we havent sorted it here yet. Exorbitant fees for getting it into farms inland via irrigation they pay through the nose they are cutting the fruit trees down now cant compete with China.
Our government are stupid regarding water always have been. We all used to have tanks on the sides of our houses in the 50's and 60's the cock heads made them illegal to have in residential areas so out they all came. Then we got drought for 7 years with the El Nino weather pattern so they said get tanks for your gardens etc, so back they came. Then they spent billions on a desalination plant here because the dams were at less than 30% for all those years. They finished building the plant and it hasnt stopped raining since and not one liter has been pumped from the place but it still needs upkeep and paying off, so now the water rates and state taxes are skyrocketing to pay for it.

In this country, you can be arrested for collecting rain water.

I just read some about the big water problems around the world! And I think i have it pretty good where i live now! Got 50 meters to the sea "Vättern" It's quite big as well!

Vättern has been famous for the excellent quality of its transparent water. Many of the municipalities in the area receive their drinking water directly from Vättern. The lake water requires very little treatment before being pumped into the municipal systems and the natural, untreated water can be safely drunk from almost any point in the lake. It has been suggested that Vättern is the largest body of potable water in the world. The surrounding municipalities process 100% of their sewage.

It must be a scam from the water providers buying off politicians to make it a law because it cuts into their profits.

Why is that? Are they protecting us from water born diseases or them from losing a taxable resource? I know what they'd make out but I wonder the truth about it.

You buy land here in NSW and you can get taxed on the water that naturally runs through your property creeks rivers etc, thats aside from the man made channels. I think dams for straight catchment are not charged for.

Out here some smart farmers dam up creeks so the extra weight of the water goes under their land further and makes life and growth easier if they systematically did that everyones troubles would be over, but instead they make that illegal too,so the esteries and smaller properties are drying up and hollow underneath so rain just disapears down fast and the top soil blows away.

The governments and local councils here really are position ,power and money driven to the point of a anti natural form of insanity.

So you are all saying that if the Ice Bucket Challenge was in Sudan, the local most likely shoot the idiot carrying out the challenge for wasting the precious water?

    I nominate Justin Beiber.

I read about one family that was being fined $37,000 per day because they collected rain water, and of others that were arrested. The EPA here has some very strange rules and its own SWAT team to enforce them.
