Bro you either have the skills in your brain or you don't.

Bernard Hopkins is 50 and was hopeless vs Kov but he was still rolling and slipping punches like a champ because thats what he does.

What, did Willie Pep forget how to defend himself in the plane crash?

Mayweather all day he's the best defensive fighter there's ever been and that's why I think no one beats him ever prime for prime

People bring up guys like Pep and Benitez, and don't get me wrong they were fantastic fighters and very slick, but they were guys who needed to control range and didn't have the skills to survive on the inside, which is why they were both knocked out several times. They're not even in the same discussion, they're "honourable mentions".

Did you miss the part about Pep being seriously injured? There were fears he wouldn't walk again and if I remember correctly many thought that was the end of his career

The point was his body had been damaged and he wasn't the same fighter

Thanks for the links, I just mentioned Niccolino Loche as a fighter from the past who had skills. It is almost as if most of todays fight fans feel ALL fighters from the past were brutes with no skills.
This is one of my favorite compilation on Loche which proves otherwise. Oh & the music score is pretty slick as well!!

Not sure there is a right or wrong answer. Personally I dont think Floyd survives the Pep era and I think Saddler beats him up but Saddler would not get away with his dirty tactics today. Pep was only stopped 6 times in close to 250 fights and most of those came late in his career. His peak record was 135-1-1. Floyd is fresh in peoples minds because of the now effect but go back and take a look at Benitez's career and prime prior to his road to self destruction. Every bit as good as Floyd in every measure and made his opponents pay more. He's included in this first compilation. The guy was incredible.

And in part two just take a peak at how slick even Walcott was.

And Brock we shouldn't forget this man

or even this guy. Many think George was the best ever

I think this post from Beans can only be viewed as the utter truth and has been worded very sympathetically.

Pep, Benitez and yes Sweet Pea were solid defensive fighters.

But Floyd is on another level. Floyd is possibly my most hated boxer to be honest but to deny his real quality here is pointless.

He is the best defensive fighter of all time and it isn't even close.

Stating stuff like "utter truth" is just ridiculous "He is the best defensive fighter of all time and it isn't even close" come on son, trolls should stay under the bridge
