    Default Mares v Santa Cruz

What do you think, it's a fight I'd like to see. Avnet has to get back in against Gonzales but this would be an interesting fight.

Would love to see this fight it seems we have been waiting on it for awhile now, Gonzalez threw a spanner in the works and held it up but it seems close again

Mares wins this, I like Mares as a fighter with Clemente Medina he has more tools than Santa Cruz, if he can let his hands go and use his better movement I can see him winning but Santa Cruz will push Mares every step of the way

Im not a big fan of Mares although I havent seen many of his fights. I saw him when he got a gift over Agbeko, the rematch where he won easily, the Gonzalez fight and the fight a few nights ago and I have never been overly impressed. I think Frampton would school him and stop him. Santa Cruz would be a fun 50/50 fight.

Mares has been maybe the most underrated fighter in the past few years. He has a few very good wins. His resume is better than most fighters. The Gonzales fight set him back a bit but he is still a really good fighter. He mainly suffers from what other small fighters suffer from. He is good but has to move up in weight to get exposure. He was a lot better at bantam than he is at feather.

They both have defensive issues but it is something they both talk about and say they are improving. Santa Cruz always amazes, Damon he has stamina. It is two fighters who will not back down. You guys are right, I'd give it fifty fifty which would make it more interesting

This would be an outstanding pace! Tough call but I lean Santa Cruz. He's boxing smarter, fresher and a solid punch selection that simply doesn't stop. I don't know if Mares was trying to prove the doubters wrong last weekend but while strong, to me he just gets hit too much lately. He was giving up his head without a thought and turned free swinger.
