Default Duran vs Mayorga at welter...

What is your take on a fight like that? 15 round fight, in Panama.

My view: It would have gone the full 15 rounds. Duran would have done great work going in and out on Mayorga, working his body and head. The footwork and balance is superior Duran. Mayorga would have given him some fits because of his power and strength, knocking Duran down, but he would be on the downside on the cards. If Duran would only brawl, Mayorga would have prevailed. I remember him demolish strong welters with raw power and toughness.
In the end Duran would win a decision, being exhausted from punching an unbreakable man, but taking the cheers from his fans.

I used to love Mayorga, before he became a lazy cunt.

At his best, he would have a puncher's chance.

He'd probably get his ears boxed off and stopped late on body shots as Duran did not like to suffer fools.

Duran would outclass him, maybe stop him late.

I was also into that he would stop Mayorga, but in my eyes Ricardo was too tough-as-nails to be stopped by Duran. He would take punishment, yes, but he would stan up to it until the end at welter. Tito had to bang him real hard at middleweight to even score the knockdowns, Forrest blasted him without putting him down. Andrew Lewis nailed him too without prevailing. Even later in his career, except Oscar, they had to wear him down far into a fight to stop him.

It's a probable UD but I can see Duran wearing him down Davey Moore style. Duran wasn't a big puncher at WW and wasn't going to get him out of their early with a couple of shots. It would have to be a prolonged beating.

Mayorga was all heart and a great fighter and like ward and Gatti they were all over-achievers that didn't quite have the talent to make it to the elite level in boxing. Duran had too much skill for mayorga.

They would have never made the ring, Duran would have beat the living shit out of him at the press conference the second Mayorga opened his big mouth

if they were fighting in Panama, Duran would be incensed at the challenge to his machismo. Both guys would make tasteless threats to kill each other and shag each other's wives, it would be a massively hyped build up.

As soon as the first bell rings, it turns into an anticlimax. Duran times Mayorga beautifully and Ricardo finds he just can't 'get off' or pull the trigger without being painfully countered every time. By the third round it's turning into a systematic beating. By the fifth, sections of the crowd are calling for a halt to the butchery.

The bravest man in the ring turns out to be the referee, as Duran spends the next few rounds gleefully and unmercifully teeing off on Mayorga at will.

In the 8th, Ricardo goes down twice. Exhausted and beaten, he rises just after the ref reaches ten and the fight is waved off.

    Ok...

Mayorga was the undisputed Welter weight champion! How is that not elite

How would Duran have done against Forrest?

Duran had trouble with Tommy Hearns......Forrest was not Hearns, tall yes, decent power, but nothing in the Hearns line of power
