And look at the 3 guys in front of him, bums! Only Wilfredo Gomez' run means anything here, and perhaps Freitas, although I don't know how good many of his early opponents were. Almost nobody has a good string of consecutive KO wins once they have reached the very top, no matter how hard they hit, it just doesn't happen.

Farhood left out Aussie Joe Gunther who had at least 36 and as many as 42. Donny Steele had 42 straight but had that NC in his 3rd. And if not for that ud after 23 straight ko's Zarate would have had 51.
Rodolfo Gonzalez had 36. Jimmy Adamek had about 34

Good stuff. Man I've been trying to remember Steeles name for months now! But every time I search "bald heavyweight from Alabama with padded ko record" all that comes up are Eric Esch and Deontay Wilder?

Anybody who knocks out 30, 40, 50 people in a row is fighting 98-100% chumps. Doesn't matter how hard you hit, if you fight decent opposition every time out you're going to run into at least one or two guys who you can't get out of there.

Why don't Zarate and Zamora matter? Zarate ko'd everybody he fought at a championship level except Lupe Pintor; when he came back at 35 only two guys went the distance with him. (And when you boxrec him and see Muniz at 1-12 I can assure you that is an incomplete record, unless you believe that a guy started his career fighting Paulie Ayala.) The guys Zamora beat included Pedroza and Sandoval.
Either of them fought better guys than Freitas, and I could walk to the nearest homeless camp, pick a fight, and have fought better guys than Wilder.

Now some of these had a loss or a ud win in between.

    Lamar Clark 44 1958-1960
Billy Fox 43 1943-1947. He had one interruption after 36 and knocked all the rest out to 43
    George Gunther 41 1899-1905
    Don Steele 42 1994-1997
    Rodolfo Gonzalez 35 1959-1961
    Wilfredo Gomez 32 1974-1981
    Jimmy Adamick 32 1936-1937
    Jose Manuel Urtain 30 1968-1970
    Acelino Freitas 29 1995-2001
    Alfonso Zamora 29 1973-1977
    Jesus Pimentel 28 1961-1964
Carlos Zarate 28 1974-1978. Like I said earlier it could read 51. His first 23 were ko's with 1 ud for his 24th.

Should he not have 27 instead of 17 in that list?

The list was made in the 2005/2006 time frame as has never been updated.

Well...... except Wilfredo Gomez, who knocked him out.
A truly great, classic fight between two dangerous, hard-punching, all-time great champions.
