Building a simple calisthenics program
Hey there,
I've been running since the start of january, and I'm looking to build a calisthenics program starting from the very basics.
I was hoping for something simple e.g. like what bodybuilders do.
I don't wish to be a bodybuilder anymore (hence the calithenics) and Hopefully, some day I can return to the boxing gym when circumstances allow.
But the advantage with BB is that you had a set of exercices, you just had to make sure that you worked out each muscle groups. I was hoping to find something simple like that. It was a super easy to understand workout plan.
any tips? Thanks
Re: Building a simple calisthenics program
Look into HIIT programs.
Try and do 4x 60 seconds of burpees, you will not get a better exercise than this.
you have to ask what are your goals, then maybe someone can recommend an exercise program.
Are you trying to improve cardio or strength, pull ups, dips and hand stand pushups can improve strength.
But boxing is technique > endurance > strength.
Re: Building a simple calisthenics program
I think in the long run, my goal would be to become somewhat proficient at boxing. When I left the boxing gym a few years back, I was invited to compete instead of just randomly sparring there and there, but I didn't feel ready to take up competition then. I'm much more mature now and so I think that would be a good goal to aim for. I'm not looking to make it a career. As long as I can have fun, I'm happy.
But honestly right now, I'm fat. I think the most important right now is cardio and just achieving a baseline of fitness. In my experience, it was pretty much a prerequisite for me to enjoy boxing.
