Default Muhammad Ali vs. Leon Spinks 'I' ~ 'What was Judge - Art Lurie Thinking"

Muhammad Ali vs. Leon Spinks 'I'

While '2' of the Scoring Officials and nearly all of the World had scored this bout 'solidly'
    for Leon Spinks >

Scoring Judge - Art Lurie laughably scored this bout for Muhammad Ali {143-142} or
    8-7-0 in Rounds.

Was Mr. Lurie trying to rally his Scorecard, to save Muhammad Ali from a 'deserved loss'
and award him an undeserving win.

    What was the motive.

    ~ Scorecards ~

    6 ......... 9 .................... 10
    7 ........ 10 .................... 9
    8 ........ 10 .................... 9
    9 ........ 10 .................... 9

    11 ...... 10 .................... 9
    12 ...... 10 .................... 9

    14 ....... 9 .................... 10
    15 ....... 9 .................... 10

    Total {143} ............... {142}

Seems that Art Lurie was trying the 'secure' the bout for Muhammad Ali, which
he did by the end of Round 12.

Then out of courtesy, he properly scored the last 3-Rounds for Leon Spinks.

Amazingly, Art Lurie awarded his Decision for Muhammad Ali.

    ~ Belgium Bob ~

Art Lurie was 'way off' in his Scoring. He leaned way too far in giving Muhammad Ali
    the edge in 'Even' Rounds.

    In Round 5 >
Both Lou Tabat and Harold Buck scored the Round {10-9} for Leon Spinks,
which Leon earned with hard work, volume of punches and effective aggression.

This was a Mercy Round Score that Art Lurie gave to Muhammad Ali.

    In Round 7 >
Again, both Lou Tabat and Harold Buck scored the Round correctly {10-9} for
    Leon Spinks.

Again, a bizarre score from Art Lurie, as he gave Muhammad Ali a birthday gift
    with his {10-9} score.

Excellent points Bill. Ali got shellacked like a little bitch. Fight was scored 144-141 for Neon Leon by anyone with a brain.

    Correct Triple 'B',

When it came time to fight like a 'Man' in Rounds 13, 14 and 15.

It was Leon Spinks who did the fighting.

yes Bill but I have to give Ali some credit for fighting his ass off in the 15th round for a 36 year old man. it was the first time I never saw Ali fight his ass off.

haha that old crown and circus act of Cassius Clay sure ran out of luck that night when neon Leon smacked his stupid ass from Louisville Kentucky from ring. During post and probably cause more brain damage and Cassius Clay skull than any other fighter wicked punches on cashes clay before or after that fight

"I was hoping that the Scoring Judges would rally again, and save me from a
deserved loss. You know, they helped me out in the 2nd bout with Joe Frazier,
the Jimmy Young bout, '2' of the Ken Norton fights, and my bout with Earnie Shavers."

    That was a 'poltroon' response.

The list is too long on his faults.
