    A lot of Asian boxers seem to be southpaws, why is that?

    Why is their poopy-hand usually the strong hand?

    "Muay-Thai' Training.

    Right-leg is the power-force leg. Easy deliver when the right-leg is the front leg.

    Sakad Petchyindee had a fantastic Muay-Thai career.

    In his professional debut on Thursday ~ November 10, 1977

    Hua Mark Indoor Stadium ~ Bangkok, Thailand

    Attendance ....... { 12,500 }

    Sakad Petchyindee ~ 0-0-0 {0 KO's} ~ 5' 7" ~ 121 lbs. ~ {Age; 19 years, 2 months}
    vs.
    Juan Antonio Lopez ~ 40-6-0 {25 KO's} ~ 5' 5" ~ 122 lbs. ~ {Age; 25 years, 5 months}

    'The Skinny'

    The Mexican - Juan Antonio Lopez was ranked as the #4 WBC Super-Bantamweight, and was
    offered a $15,000 Fight Purse to travel to Bangkok, Thailand to take on the youngster Sakad.

    Juan Antonio Lopez is no stranger to Bangkok,Thailand > as back on May 8, 1977 > he scored a
    'come-from-behind' {TKO 9} over highly-regarded Thai-fighter - Dorn Sornsakdisih.

    Also, on June 15, 1977 > Juan scored a {TKO 8} over OPBF Super-Bantamweight Champion
    * Ric Quijano in The Philippines, in a WBC Elimination bout.

    'The Bout'

    At the Opening Bell, the 19 year-old Sakad used a variety of 'long-stabbing' right-hands to the
    face to keep the hard-hitting Lopez at bay.

    Each time that the Mexican moved in close to deliver his hard-hooks to the body, he was met
    with a face full of leather, as this was the pattern in Rounds 1 and 2.

    In Round 3, Sakad continued with his long-stabbing right-hands into the Mexican's face. Then at the
    {1:45 Mark}, Sakad stepped in and delivered a 'jolting' left-hand lead into Juan's chin, and the Mexican
    went down to his right-knee. Lopez took the 'Mandatory 8-Count', and appeared clear-headed as he
    finished out the Round.

    In Round 4, a still somewhat 'shaken' Lopez stayed on the outside on the defensive to clear his head.
    The young Thailand fighter stalked, and again pumped in long-stabbing right-hands while looking for
    a spot to deliver his hard left-hand smash.

    At the end of Round 4, Juan Antonio Lopez was behind by 5-Points, and his cornermen looked worried.

    In Round 5, Lopez finally got in gear, and turned the bout around from a long-range boxing match,
    and into a brawl, as he bulled his way inside and mauled the young Thailand boxer.

    In Rounds 6 and 7, the Mexican had his best moments, as he out-strengthed the taller Thailand boxer
    on the inside, with better in-fighting.

    In Round 8, Lopez continued with his good in-fighting and had his way over the first {2:00}. Then, just as
    it looked as if the Mexican had the bout in hand, Sakad 'turned-the-tide' and nailed Lopez with numerous
    left-hand lead 'smashes', and had the Mexican in trouble late in the Round.

    Sakad continued to slam away, and at the {2:50 Mark}, Sakad unloaded a 'hard' straight left-hand into
    Lopez's chin, dropping him on the seat of his pants. Lopez was up at the '4-Count' and looked weary.

    Lopez was just barely able to make it back to his corner at the Bell.

    With the bout seemingly at hand, Sakad uses smart tactics by firing out 'quick' right-hands, and then
    moving away as Juan Antonio tries to catch Sakad with right-hooks to the chin.

    Over the last 2-Rounds, Sakad smartly boxes as the Mexican desperately chases. The Thai-fighter
    cruises to an easy 10-Round Unanimous Decision in a 'shockingly easy upset'.

    Scorecards
    * 97-93 > {Sakad Petchyindee}
    * 97-92 > {Sakad Petchyindee}
    * 97-91 > {Sakad Petchyindee}
