I was surprised to hear he was stopped this time, but it seems he just came in out of shape as usual and quit. Thompson is very solid, credit to him.

    Tony Thompson defeats Odlanier Solis

Read this article about it, listen to what the promoter has to say about Solis, thought his honesty here is pretty funny

Thompson is no pushover he's typically going to at the very least last the distance and his defense is very good.

Impressive that Wlad stopped him twice

He gave up against Wlad twice... just can't take being hit that many times in the face.

    Shameful stuff by Solis.

Someone should tell these guys - the Chris Arreola's, the Solis', the Andy Ruiz Jr's, ect ect - that in this era of athletic giants, being under 6'3'' and being a fat 260-280 is just not going to cut it. You look like shit and your not taking the responsibility of being a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE seriously.

I know Arreola has came in decent shape in his last few fights, but seeing guys like Ruiz and Solis coming in at just over 6 feet and pushing 280lbs... it's like what do you expect to accomplish in this sport? Do you think you're going to stand a chance against a legitimate athlete like Wlad, Wilder, ect?

TBTH... these is no excuse for Solis. He just won't stay in shape. He has been in shape before, but like all of the other Cubans aside from Rigondeaux, he just can't stay away from the burgers and whoring around.

With Andy Ruiz, it will not get any better than that. He will never be chiselled, which makes it hard for us to gauge when he is REALLY in tune for a fight vs. just the regular Andy Ruiz. But he has never gassed in a fight... so, we have to just let his train run it's course.

As for Arreola, same as Ruiz but to a smaller degree. Arreola is really a Supermiddleweight/Lightheavyweight that just got to big. If Arreola were to REALLY get into shape, he can be a very solid Supermiddle or a premium LH.

I think there are fat guys that are in good shape, Andy Ruiz included, but it goes beyond not gassing, at just over 6 foot and 270lbs, the mobility is not going to be there. So sure, he'll do good against slow plodders and guys who just stand and bang, but against true athletes like Wlad and Deontay, who can move, dodge in and out, and punch with lighting speed, they are just sitting ducks.

The worst was Chris Arreola, who got the big fight of his life with Vitali in front of a home town crowd, a fight that could have propelled him into super stardom... and he showed up fat over 250lbs and got picked apart by an athlete who takes his condition seriously.

That all it was? Really? Tony gave 100% in the first fight, by the time the rematch rolled around he was beaten before he got in the ring, Wlad already beat the fire out of him the first time. The first fight was a struggle, it was a good hard fight which Wlad could have wilted in, but he stayed strong and closed the fight nicely and so far he's the ONLY man to stop Tony Thompson. Thompson is a very good challenger/contender, he's dangerous to almost all other top 20 heavyweights I don't know why that's difficult to admit.

Thompson is the heavyweight Winky Wright, he's just that good with his defense and jab.

Seeing Solis looking fat and disinterested made me hate heavyweight even more. They are a disgrace to the sport if they can not be bothered to get in condition for an important and meaningful fight.

For Solis's pedigree and his understanding of what training can do for you, there is no way he should be so sloppy looking. No way!

I guess all he wanted was to leave Cuba. Can't say I blame him for it. But even had Solis been in shape he wasn't the pedigree of Stevenson or Savon
