Re: Has Freddie Roach lost the plot?
Thats just freddy. Manny doesn't talk as much so freddy compensates by over talking. Not to mention he knows Floyd gets easily mentally irked outside of the ring. From his reading, to his significant others , to whatever else he gets easily mentally taxed and insecure about himself, which is why he overspends to make himself feel better. Brian Kenny on Friday night fights used to do it all the time. He just loved pressing floyds buttons and floyd would start stammering and etc.
We all know floyds not coming to lose so as far as making him mad or whatever, its not going to make him any greater in the ring by inspiring him in any way. He's already deathly afraid of losing his 0 enough to spend 1000 dollars on all his meals ..so he's already got the inspiration he needs. So you pick at him..little by little and wear him down mentally, emotionally.... any little thing you can do to distress him... maybe he doesnt sleep so much or eat enough or even fight at a calm or emotionless pace. If you're up against a guy who doesn't make many mistakes, you force him too.
Floyd just keeps putting himself out there and giving freddy ammo.. Floyds always played the bad guy in his conferences, talking about other fighters and etc. So he's never really had to worry about anyone else being the aggressor. The funny thing is Floyd claims he has the mental edge because hes never been beaten before, but hes deathly afraid of losing his 0, pacquiao has pretty much stated what happens to him in the ring is the way god intended it and he's ok with that.
To put things in perspective. Lets look at the RJJ's fights against Tarver. Tarver, a southpaw, trained by Mcgirt (who had a hard on for jones and claimed he always knew how to and had a plan to beat him). Roy was drained the first time. Then came all the talk and taunting of Jones before the second fight. Is it an identical situation, no but it goes to show what an obsessed trainer and a guy who could carry out that plan could do in the right window of opportunity at a point in a guys career where he was ripe, even though he was viewed unbeatable. Talking got jones to come back down when he couldnt find someone at heavyweight ,instead of just retiring. So Freddy would put something like that out there and let it fester in floyd's mind. He's doesnt expect to destroy floyd with any of these things. Just create specs of doubt where floyd does the rest to himself.
That's the thing about an argument. All it takes is one person to say something small and stupid and its like a splinter dug into the raw nerves of a persons insecurities. Like when theres a fight on and you're sitting there ready to go for the last 30 minutes.. now its getting good and someone just got knocked down and your lady's finally ready to go .... Now you go "you're going like that?" and she goes "what?" and you go nothing "i just....if you're ok with it, then..." and she goes "wait, i'll be right out" and heads back into the bedroom. You bought yourself and extra 20 minutes to watch and shes in there changing her dress, hair, jewelry and shoes when there was nothing wrong with her to begin with. It's all mind games. Little effort for a potentially big pay off..
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.
