Interesting angle on why Floyd may have Ariza in his corner.

"Mayweather also retired in 2008 but returned 21 months later in May 2009 to fight Juan Manuel Marquez."

No way Floyd would retire on 49 and be equal to Rocky he would be planning a record 50th fight.

Sounds like Ranallo to me. There is no way he will not go for 50-0. IMO

I think I Could be on my own here, but I honestly think that although Floyd would love to go 50-0, I don't think it's a priority to him. I think the first Maidana fight showed him that time is catching up a bit and maybe the enthusiasm isn't there as much. I reckon he wants to get these last 2 fights of his deal done and finish.
I reckon his priority is in these last 2 fights to cement his legacy, to beat Pac and then , if necessary a rematch. personally , I think that the way he will beat Pac (comfortably on points , easing away late after frustrating Pac) won't leave people wanting a rematch.
So then , perhaps taking Cotto's title in another division might appeal.
Obviously I could be wrong though.

For some reason, I also doubt that going 50-0 would be so important, and more now after that first Maidana fight. That was the first time I noticed him strutting back to his corner [after round one I think] doing a cocky sort of wiggle.

Though he did mention that he didn't "like boxing" around the time of that first retirement, only to come back 21 months later, this time it's age were talking about. And preserving that 0 on his loss column.
